What a terrible experience... the food took ages and wasn't worth waiting for... the presentation of the prawns and avocado was something from the 70s and what's with the boiled egg and cherry on top,the orange was obviously added on the side to take you mind off the acute lack of prawns and over powering sauce , very poor. The main courses arrive and we our now going rapidly even further down hill. spaghetti Bolognese, REALLY..!!...on which planet..? well it was tinned mince, for those of you who might remember ...Tyne Brand...this will be a stroll down memory lane.. the key ingredients of tomato and some Mediterranean herbs were completely AWOL, In fact take out the spaghetti and put a pie lid on with some mash and peas and your on a winner. The pork steak and mushroom sauce, tasted like Campbells mushroom soup and bugger all else on the plate.., no potato or veg apparently it's all extra.. as is the...bread.....olives and butter packs....we complained and just got ignored, still presented with the bill for 60 euro... shocking ... we have been here for 14 days and eaten in some right rough looking places but until today the food has been really good and in the rougher looking establishments basic but great this was a awful... perhaps if we had stuck to the grill menu cooked by the old boy outside in the alley it would have been ok.... to be fair the house red wine was lovely...but watch out for the cock roaches in the...
Read moreWe have had a good experience of this restaurant on previous visits and looked forward to this visit to the newly refurbish restaurant. The decor is nice but the flat seats we were provided with were extremely uncomfortable and it took three requests to eventually get cushions which helped a little. . Service was extremely slow, we arrived dead on 7pm as booked and were shown to our table but by 10 past 8 still no main course. I ordered chops and these came in a mix range of sizes and a mix range of cooking but all were tough and chewy. My wife’s prawn kebab came with bacon throughout which she specifically requested she did not want. The prawns were very nice as were the forgotten sauté potatoes when they eventually arrived. At the end of the meal we were asked if everything was good and I advised the waiter of the meals faults and he said he would advise the chef but we heard nothing more back or any form of apology. For 70€ this meal was neither good enough nor value for money. The poor service throughout and the lack of concern about the meals failings has removed O barrel...
Read moreWe’ve visited O Barril several times, and I finally decided to share our impressions of this lovely place. From the moment you arrive, the warm and friendly welcome sets a pleasant tone. The restaurant offers a great selection of both fish and meat dishes, and their lunch menu is particularly worth highlighting — generous portions, full of flavor, and excellent value for money. Service is consistently outstanding. The staff are professional, attentive, and genuinely caring, making each visit a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Among the dishes we’ve especially enjoyed are the sardines, the grilled chicken, and the codfish — all well-prepared and delicious. The interior is cozy, stylish, and impeccably clean, including the toilets. The soft background Fado music adds a nice touch to the atmosphere. We’ll definitely keep coming back and can wholeheartedly recommend O Barril to anyone looking for a quality dining experience in a...
