Restaurante Grill "A Marisqueira" — Restaurant in Lagoa

I feel bad giving it 2 stars but the food wasn’t up to scratch.

We ordered bread with garlic butter, thinking it would be some fresh bread with homemade butter but we were wrong. The bread tasted like long life bread and the garlic butter we paid €1 each for, were little butters you get from the all inclusive.

We shared a tuna pâté to start and I can honestly say it was not pâté. It resembled tuna mayo that you would have in a sandwich. It was disappointing.

I had mussels for the main, tasty enough but the smallest mussels I’ve ever seen. My husband had the lamb chops which were nice.

There was little service, the server wasn’t the happiest person I’ve seen and no one asked of our meal was ok, only once at the end when clearing our plates away.

After a long day of walking along the cliffs, this was a fantastic place to eat. They had fresh seafood (whole fish and fish kebabs) that they cooked on the grill. It was perfectly cooked! We also had a traditional Algarve carrot salad for a starter, and a shrimp cocktail (which is served the British way, in case you are used to it in the US!). For mains we had Golden Bream, cod and monkfish kebab, and peri peri chicken. Came here on a recommendation from a fellow West Ham supporter and his wife and was not disappointed the staff are friendly and efficient and although we only had the Chicken Piri Piri it was better than your run of the mill one as the spices and crispy skin made it really tasty and the chicken itself was well cooked but tender with it. We only had water with our meal as I couldn't drink due to medical reasons, but the atmosphere in here was buzzing, and the food was quick to be served. Nice meal, great evening.
