First impression of the place was good. The atmosphere also nice. At the beginning we asked for a good recommendation of a good, full-bodied red wine. The wine we got was OK, not bad but then we noticed that all other tables without exception got the same bottle of wine. Don't understand the reason asking for a special recommendation if the main goal of the service and restaurant is to sell the same wine to everybody. That was the first point we felt that was not pretty correct. Then we ordered some starters and of course the prices were twice so big as in other places on the same street. For us no problem, if the quality and presentation is good. The baby squids we've got (6 small pieces without anything else on the plate) =10 EUR; were not cleaned from inside and all the innards completely destroyed the whole taste of the dish. We of course cleaned it in order to eat it but it was not tasteful anymore as it should be. I asked extra at the end if that is normal not to clean the squids and the answer was yes. Ehmm NO actually the normal thing is to clean the innards and this was always a normal thing in every country we have been and enjoyed this kind of starter.
At the end we paid for the special bottle of red wine - 21 Euro which is very overpriced! for that region. You usually pay for a good bottle of wine the half of it and it tastes fantastic. At the end as an advice for the parents who plan visiting this place with kid we could say that it is not so children welcome as we experienced until now in Carvoeiro (also going for a drink or food after 6 pm it is better to go in other place where you will feel more comfortable). Even no high chair available. Very unusual and not...
Read moreOur evening here was truly a memorable experience from start to finish. The quality of the food, paired with impeccable service and a charming ambiance, made for an unforgettable evening. The grilled octopus – was tender and succulent. The razor shells were a culinary surprise for, we tried them for the first time – served with a mouthwatering sauce that complemented their natural brininess perfectly.
We also tried two different desserts (almond cake and crumble with fig jam) and both were great.
Their sommelier expertly guided us through their extensive list, helping us find the perfect wine and explained us a lot about Portuguese wine regions and culture.
Last but not least, the service was exceptional. The staff were not only knowledgeable but also incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly. us feel right at home, adding to the overall charm of the restaurant.
Charming ambiance, it's a must-visit for any seafood lover. It is not a cheap place, but if you consider the quality, you definitely get a lot for your money. Great place! Hope to...
Read moreI hate to leave a bad review however this restaurant was not as up to par as the ratings suggested. The first turn off was that we were not given an option to pick our own wine. We were not even given a wine list but were told that they would pick our wine for each course. Therefore, we had no idea what we were going to be paying or given a choice. This was not horrible just strange to us. We only know of the two wines that they served and have no idea what else was even there. We sent the oysters back and the filet minion had very little flavor. The prawns were overcooked and not deveined but the salad was pretty good and the chocolate mousse was good. There was nothing great about any of it though and I cannot understand the high rating. The waiter was nice and pleasant but I felt he was a little too much of a salesman than a waiter. It was expensive for the few shared dishes that we had. I would give it a B- at best. There are better places in the area. Sorry 😞 but would I not recommend...
