We went here for an early dinner today on a trip to Luz. As a starter there were fresh Vietnamese (inspired) spring rolls with chicken and a light mint flavor, decorated with sesame seeds, served with sweet chili sauce and hoisin sauce and cevice with purple sweet potato puree and an edible flower as decoration.
The cevice had a slight citrus note and was unfortunately not refined with leche de tigre - it was still very tasty and not a bit fishy.
The main course was Pad Thai with chicken and tagliatelle and extra hot ground chili and spring onions with peanuts and coriander. The dish was delicious, beautifully presented, just as pasta can be beautifully presented, and tasted quite authentic.
Next we ate it tuna steak with sweet potatoes, mango with a hint of chili and a vegetable variation of spring onions, broccoli and zucchini on quite spicy teriyaki sauce and a slice of lime. It was all beautifully presented on a large plate. The tuna steak was seared on the outside and still raw like sashimi on the inside - very fresh, tasted really excellent and very mild.
All in all, the visit was worth it - Although for Portuguese standards very expensive. The various waiters were all friendly and courteous but not intrusive. So you could enjoy the food in a pleasant atmosphere with a great view over the Praia da Luz.
I highly recommend Zazu Beach Club and will return should I ever be in the Luz area again. Unfortunately, due to our day trip, we were not really dressed appropriately for the location, but we were not treated condescendingly. Top! Thank you for the...

Read moreWhat a lovely treat, this place... good food, great service, we will have to come back for more... The cocktails were nicely presented and not over-the-top. The prawns starter was good, but the tuna was a real surprise. I love ajo blanco, but in my mind this couldn't go together with tuna and soy. How've, it worked really well and the pistachio made it a perfect starter. I literally kicked my plate. The mains were good with tasty veggies and sizeable portion. My partner's meat was cooked perfectly, but we didn't understand what the soy sauce was doing on that plate. The dessert was... interesting... My panna cotta was okay, but the tiramizazu was a whole meal in itself. Tasty, yes. A nice take on tiramisu, no. Too much over the top for that, and just too much on the plate anyway. Finishing off with a nice brandy, it was all in all lovely, though. Those flavours worked well together. And there is plenty on the menu for us to have...
