Would not recommend. Ordered dumplings for starter, and steaks medium for main course. The dumplings tasted like they were cooked from frozen, but edible nonetheless. We were hungry after walking around the city all day. The steaks were served in a bowl with chips, fried mushrooms with mustard sauce drenched over the steaks. The steaks were rare at best, and it would not be inaccurate if they were described as raw. Managing to cut into the middle of my steak, if felt cold to touch - not even room temperature. While one of our group did manage to finish his steak (his preference is for rare), three of us couldn't eat them, and another one of us could only eat part of the steak. At no point did the waiting staff approach us to ask how the food was - there were only 4 or 5 parties in the restaurant at the time. Eventually, I got the waiter's attention, and we expressed our disappointment and reminded him that we had ordered medium cooked steaks. A waitress/manager then approached the table and offered to cook them further, but we declined as they had been sitting there for 20 minutes at least - and were served covered in mustard sauce! We asked for the bill, expecting the staff to adjust our bill accordingly, i.e., to not charge us for mains we did not eat. This was not the case, and we respectfully advised the waiter that we would not be paying for 3 of the steaks. He returned shortly afterwards with an updated bill, which we paid and then left. The waiter was doing his best, and not his fault but I would not recommend this restaurant, and am very surprised that its Google Reviews rating is so high - we choose the restaurant because of...

🍝 Stunning food - stunning team! 🤗

We were sent here for dinner from Isabel in Café Republica a bit further up the hill where we had a beer trying to find out where to go for dinner.

Bingo! 😍

Welcoming team and great quick service. Burrata with pesto + salad Octupus with sweet potato puree (first time I enjoyed sweet potato!) Truffeled cabbage (say what? so yummy) Shrimp Ceviche .... 🤩 2 cakes for dessert and a really nice wine Camolas

I have been around a bit in Portugal from 5 star places to simple local: Acaso gave me an aroma-therapy dinner I will never forget!

Saw other comments saying bread was too expensive or Ceviche was too small of a portion... but hey: everything has the capacity to be a signature dish on it's own. And the bread was great quality.

I am a really spoiled Italian brat if it comes to food but Acaso went "hold my beer" and gave us a delightful experience.

  • We came back a second time * Prosciutto + best cheese in Lisbon 🤤 Risotto funghi (some Italian chefs should come to learn how to do it!) Crunchy Tartar 😲 🤩 and a second time the Ceviche!! 🦐

This time João was around and when we asked for the same wine as 2 days before, much to our surprise, he came back with the same wine we had: he just breathes hospitality and it was our pleasure and honor to have found Acaso!

And if you are up for a digestif:...

Edit: I’m editing my review to reflect my last visit. I’m been to Acaso several times over the years, but this time I was disappointed. Food was ok, but the service left much to be desired. Our female waitress (a blond woman) was clearly having a bad night, not a single smile and made us feel really unwanted.. basically throwing the menus on the table and acting annoyed as she was taking our orders. I get that she probably wasn’t happy that a couple of people in our group fell ill and couldn’t join, but how about treating the ones that were there with some decency.. She even asked my very pregnant friend to move her chair closer to the table (um, not possible - there’s a belly in the way). I won’t be coming back and I’ll also stop recommending the place to friends. Bummer.

Old review: Amazing food and very friendly staff! Tuna was heaven 🤩 The only downside was that you could smell garbage from the surroundings streets when...

Acasso may have a surprising 4.7/5 rating by the time i write this review, but at this rate i don’t think that it will be for long. The service was disastrous and nonchalant, with a waiter that did not even acknowledge our presence in an almost empty restaurant. As he spent his entire time figuring out how to work the POS system. I'd rather not write about the food because it was absolutely disgusting. We were served a sort of fries storm with “grated parmesan” and smelly unfresh tuna, we did not touch it. The main course was a sirloin steak that seemed almost boiled rather than seared in a pan. It was accompanied by an inedible mustard sauce, unseasoned mushrooms and cardboard-like fries. Well, this was a very very disappointed first dinner in Lisbon. Although we reconciled with the Portuguese food scene along the week. I do not recommend this restaurant.
