We have eaten at over 20 Lisbon ramen restaurants and were really excited for Shifu to be opening up maybe 50m from our apartment.
The take away message from this review is: it was fine. That is all it was. Fine.
Comparing to other ramen restaurants in the city - the portions was a bit smaller but the price was competitive. The flavor was good enough but the ingredients were seriously lacking. It was a really boring bowl of ramen. They also only give 1/2 an egg when many places give you 2 halves. (I ordered an extra 1/2 egg so you will see 2 eggs on in one bowl) While their pork chasu was tender and tasty, the slices were VERY thin, so their 3 slices vs every other restaurant’s 3 slices yielded about 1/3 the serving.
Decor is excellent, and especially for kids/families. Menu is VERY large so I am sure that will be appealing for many people. They also have many more varieties of ramen than a typical ramen house, so that may also be appealing.
I would give this a 3.5 if 1/2 stars were available (due to variety and decor/atmosphere) but cannot in good conscience give it a 4. We will likely come back 1 more time and try 2 different ramens but I expect similar issues.
Too bad because we wanted to love it and we would have come at least once a week given the proximity to...
Read moreShifu Ramen in Lisbon is an absolute gem! From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported into a vibrant world of Japanese pop culture, with colorful anime-themed decor and a lively atmosphere that’s perfect for families and fans alike. The star of the show? The ramen—rich, flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and generous portions of meat that make every bite a delight. I tried the duck ramen, and it was hands-down one of the best I’ve ever had! The starters, like the Toriman Teriyaki and Age Gyozas, were equally delicious and a great way to kick off the meal. What truly sets Shifu apart is the experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient, ensuring quick service without sacrificing quality. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, and the fun addition of a robotic “kitten” delivering dishes adds a playful touch that kids (and adults!) love. The price-to-quality ratio is fantastic, making it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Japanese street food in Lisbon. I’ll...
Read moreI love ramen, but the vegetarian dashi (broth) was too mushy, overcooked vegetables weren’t clean. Noodle overcooked I asked a bit more of dashi because there was so much overcooked noodle that it absorbed all the dashi, and the answer from the service was it’s not possible. Sad. Was really hoping for this chain to be amazing, but it’s just an illusion. I will never comeback to any of them.
Ps: they made me pay for my very bad ramen ahaha. Update: after they insisted on me and pressure me, I ask for the complaining book, and I was not given one by the workers there. So I called the corporation to make some justice and fine this place.
You should be ashamed replying to my review, I’m in a demand indeed, that places like this stop stealing money from tourists and my people. Your ramen was non existent and live based and what was created not by you. Shame, shame, shame....
