This restaurant is a hidden gem.It doesn't look like much from the outside, and in fact if you don't know about it, you wouldn't even think that it's a restaurant. Recommended to us by my cousin, so has now been living in Lisbon for some time, I was a bit sceptical when I approached the restaurant, but once I went in, found that it was a labyrinth. From the outside it looks very very small, but once inside it appeared endless. I knew it was going to be a good restaurant because it was packed with the Portuguese as apposed to 'tourists' which many restaurants in Lisbon cater for. It was packed with little old ladies as well and young suited 'banker' types and the atmosphere was that everyone was concentrating on the food!!! We had Octopus and I could have had another round of Octopus! It was fresh and tasty and simply delicious!!!! Staff are friendly and take their jobs seriously without making you feel uncomfortable. The restaurant looks it's age, but that's also because we're so used to 'polished' restaurants catering for tourists, which turn out to be soulless. This place has plenty of soul and we loved it, and can't wait to go back to Lisbon (we live in the Algarve) making a specific stop at this restaurant for our lunch!. Oh yes, when we went it was lunch time, will be going again. The neighbourhood is away from the 'city centre' and almost a a Parisian feel to it. We went by metro and parking appears very restrictive, unless you're a local and know all the 'short cuts' to parking spaces. Highly recommend this place if you want to experience a true Portuguese ambiance with food!. Can't wait...

We knew we had hit the jackpot when my friend and I arrived at the restaurant at noon and saw the queue!

The feature of the restaurant is in its name: one can see ties of various colours and designs hung on the ceiling. The staff were friendly and ready to help (Given that you spoke Portuguese; Otherwise, I assume they'd act like mystic Greek gods like every Portuguese restaurant).

We were greeted with a generous portion of "Cozido à Portuguesa", a traditional, rustic dish composed of boiled meats and vegetables typically served only on Sundays.

It consisted of traditional sausages like the chouriço, farinheira (wheat sausage), and morcelo (blood sausage); Different cuts of meat like beef, pork, pig ears, trotters. It also comes with a side of meat-scented cabbage, carrots, potatoes, rice, and beans. This is a perfect dish for those who likes a diversified palette like me or gym rats that are all about their protein intake.

The overall experience was pleasant, and I would gladly leave a nasty comment so it would be less crowded.

Will definitely be back to try the octopus and steak...
