In the end, I got lucky that the place I was going to for lunch this day was closed. Unexpectedly though, but when around in Lisbon there are always plenty of alternatives. Well, my first alternative was closed as well and when I set out to be headed to choice number three (keep in mind, this is no ranking, they’re all great food spots in their own right), I stumbled across the “Cusca Café”.

A brief glimpse inside drew me in, and there was a free table just for me. The café had a nice and family-like atmosphere, with affordable prices and Heineken on draft. Their small menu featured typical Portuguese cuisine, which was absolutely delicious. I opted for the carrot soup and pan-fried chicken with salad and sweet potato chips. The staff were nice and attentive, and the interior was cozy and well-chosen. The café was well-visited by a mix of locals and tourists, offering a perfect spot away from the busy roads but definitely worth the visit. I'm already looking forward to going back to try their supposedly most delicious almond tart.

All in all, Cusca Café was a pleasant surprise and a...

I couldn't be happier, this is not a fancy restaurant with loads of complex offerings, this is like home! Like what grandma would offer when we come to visit, delicious and healthy options, with meat and for vegetarians too, and the love in each piece can be felt, all mich home made. The place is modest but pristinely clean (each table is disinfected immediately after the guests leave, included the floor around and behind it), about the service the waiter is very hard working always taking all orders and cleaning around. Very local feeling of hood in the best way, I can only...

I'm sad only because it was the last place we sat in and resembles me how I miss Lisbon. I clearly remember how friendly and super-cozy of the Café was. It looked like an old, kind Grandma's dining room that is about to be converted into this Café in secret by some enthusiast grandchildren when she is just away. Well, they do a nice job! The cake was really delicious just like the beverage I drank. The service was extremely kind and the place was clean as well. If I come back, it will definitely...

This is an excellent restaurant which should be supported by locals and tourists in the Príncipe Real neighbourhood. We stumbled upon this restaurant one morning and returned back another day specifically to try it. We were rewarded with an excellent meal and great value. The gluten free dark chocolate cake was excellent but I missed taking the photo before the family wolfed it down. Highly recommend the Avocado Bruschetta of the dishes we had. All great regardless.
