Gelados Conchanata — Restaurant in Lisbon

I confess I know this place for many years and I know it is very famous in Lisbon (and not only in Lisbon). No idea why, I never tried ice cream here before, even when I come with my kids, they have but I never had. This time I also tried and I was really disappointed !!! I can not say they are bad, but for the huge fame my expectations were much higher. Also it is annoying to have a permanent queue. Usually when you have waiting time it must be worthy, and that is not the case at all. Another thing not in favor is that they don't take cards, need to pay cash. Not only it is less convenient, also it is not the best practice for health reasons (hygiene) when you deal with food we try to avoid cash contact... that is not the case here... really bad if you ask me. Now, they are always full of clients, so probably they don´t care. I found no reason for such fame. Maybe people come already with that idea that "it's great", so even if they don't like that much, they are restricted in their perception. These ice creams are for sure not inside my top list, even worst when you need to wait to get service, the place is not even nice or comfortable. Totally...

DESAGRADO TOTAL. Dirigi me ao estabelecimento no intuito de adquirir os gelados e comer no local. Deparo me com uma pseudo esplanada com meia dúzia de cadeiras sem jeito nenhum, parecendo quase a sala de espera da Segurança Social o que quase me fez perder a vontade de entrar. Após algum tempo de espera na fila para adquirir os gelados, o tamanho das bolas eram ridiculamente pequenas para o preço praticado, já para não falar no mau atendimento a roçar um tanto ou quanto a arrogância e na forma como se apresentam atrás do balcão ( apresentação inadequada/ postura descuidada). Para meu espanto quando vou pedir a fatura com contribuinte foi me dito que não era possível, pois já tinham registado tudo, o que não era verdade pois enquanto o funcionário me dava essa informação eu vi descaradamente que estava ainda a registar as coisas e não tinha saído talão nenhum o que me dá a sensação que querem fugir ao fisco aliado ao facto de não terem multibanco, nem mbway como formas alternativas de pagamento. Após toda esta peripécia quando vou degustar o gelado que algumas pessoas amigas teciam rasgados elogios sobre o mesmo, deparo me com um gelado demasiado doce e mole com um sabor parco ou quase inexistente porque tinha um sabor muito notório a açúcares adicionados. Não recomendo, assim como a minha única ida foi uma total desilusão . A não voltar.

This is the best ice cream I've had in my life. Forget Gelato, Italy, and everything you know. Just go here and order a "Conchanata", the traditional one.

It is out of this world good.

The one thing is that they are never that nice, they don't smile and are all about business. The place also looks like a whole in the wall, and barely has any sitting place outside.
