LOCAL Alvalade — Restaurant in Lisbon

Sadly not very friendly when we came in at 22.40 it was too late to order even though they claim to be open until midnight. Having just landed after a long flight and driving to this place which claimed to be open till late to have the dinner i hadn't had was a bit disappointing until i found next door open and ate there.

Strangely enough, after a lengthy, nice and friendly dinner next door that lasted until 00.06, walking back to my car i walked past this restaurant and people were still eating!

Maybe the waitress at the door just wasn't in the mood?

Local is well-known in Lisbon for its healthy offerings, and we've been here before, so we thought we'd give it another shot. Plus, we were on a tight schedule, with an appointment an hour after arriving at the restaurant, so we needed a place with quick service.

I went for the Duck with Orange, which was alright, though a tad on the bland side. Meanwhile, my wife went for the reef poke bowl, and that turned out to be quite satisfying.

To round things off, we indulged in a delightful chocolate brownie with salted caramel. If you're in Lisbon and craving a healthy meal, this place...

I really wanted to like this place, but I was disappointed. The GOOD things: -The 'passion fruit rawcake' was delicious! -The restaurant had vegetarian options. -The location and ambience were fine. The BAD things: -The entree was extremely undercooked in the middle, to the point of being inedible. -The side dish (quinoa?) was very bland, had no flavor at all. -The server said they could only take credit cards (not cash) because they didn't have any change that day. I would recommend this as a good place for drinks and dessert, but maybe not for...
