Mensagem — Restaurant in Lisbon

This beautiful restaurant is located inside Altis Hotel and Spa in Belem. We were walking by the “monument to the discoveries” and found this place. It seemed too upscale and price of the brunch was high so I thought it was a tourist trap. I was wrong! So glad we ordered lunch.

Risotto de legumes was amazing. Texture of risotto was perfect. Tagitelli de Marisco (they ran out of it so switched to spaghetti) was out of this world. Flavor from razor clam and seafood got absorbed perfectly in pasta… can’t forget the moment I taste it. We didn’t expect this level of food and pleasantly surprised! At 17 Euro, I thought it was priced so reasonably. We already had lunch and 2 rounds of desserts, so we could not order desserts but we saw next table ordering 4 different kinds of dessert and it was like Michelin star level.

View was wonderful! You can see the Tagus River and boats. Service was little slow and they charged 3 euros for set up, but it came with delicious breads, olives and olive oil. I highly recommend this place, especially for lunch. Definitely coming back on my next...

Absolutely the least hospitable and sleaziest experience you will ever endure.

Upon arrival, I was denied access to the restroom, a basic human necessity, unless I consumed something first. Then, one of the managers approached us and, without even asking for our drink preferences, forced a bowl of olives and bread upon us, which we fortunately rejected right away. We later discovered it would have been charged to our bill if we hadn't. This deceitful act was performed with a disingenuous smile that only appeared when money was involved. The prices were exorbitant, especially for items like coffee from a subpar Keurig machine. I expected a five-star experience but instead encountered unfriendly, condescending staff who clearly believe the customer is...

We had breakfast every morning at Mensagem because we stayed 8 nights at Altis belem hotel and spa for honeymoon.

There are plenty of dishes every day. Our favorite is salted salmon, requeijao! During long stay, the nutrition balance is unstable but we can keep our health thanks to Mensagem wealthy breakfasts.

Furthermore, we can be relaxed thier great hospitality. Especially Mr. Hugo is very generous. He makes our days with his smile and kindness. We really appreciate it.
