I'm writing a new review as I was not aware that yesterday being a holiday brought an unusually high volume of customers to the restaurant, which they were struggling to keep up with, making my first review somewhat unfair.
I will say, the location is nice, nearby a nice water feature at the zoo. My husband's bacalhau was tasty and the desserts were tasty as well. I will just caution you not to come here if you are in a rush, because service took a long time. Being transparent here, it took around half an hour before someone came to greet us and take our orders, nearly half an hour to receive our drinks, and from the time we sat down it took well over an hour to receive our food (around 1.5 hours). I understand now that that was probably due to the high volume of customers because of the holiday, and the restaurant just didn't half enough staff to handle it. As mentioned earlier, some of the food was good, like the bacalhau and the dessert, but my tuna salad wasn't worth the price of 10€ in my opinion. It was canned tuna on top of iceberg lettuce with canned corn, tomato, orange, and a boiled egg. It lacked seasoning and dressing, but that is just my opinion; you may like it. I added some oil and vinegar which helped give it a little flavour.
It didn't make sense to us that the meals came out at different times, with the children's meal coming out half an hour before the adults' food. The kids were finished eating and were bored and restless by the time the rest of us received our food. However, this may be because of the high number of orders they were trying to fulfill that day. But if I were to give constructive criticism here, I would just suggest that they do what other restaurants do and try to time the meals to come out at the same time.
Admittedly, my first experience here did not leave me wanting to come back. But I think I would give it another chance to see what it's like on a normal day that isn't super busy. However, if you just want to grab a quick bite and get on with seeing the animals in the zoo, I suggest you go somewhere where you can get a quick sandwich or something, or eat at home before coming to the zoo. But, if you have time to spare, you can give this place a try and see for yourself - maybe your experience will be different than mine. I hope that I will get a chance to come again on a slower day and hopefully have a...
Read moreFood was good but the service was not that great, our lady server barely understood English. We ordered 3 dishes, 2 arrived after awhile while the third never showed up. After passing the table multiple times by different servers our first finally noticed and started looking where the pizza might be, after the two of us who got our food was done it took another 10 minutes for them to ”find” the pizza. Our first server tried to give some weird explanation of why it was missing but due to her barely speaking english she didn’t get very far and grabbed another colleague. Our guess is the first server forgot to put the order in completely. The table behind us also seemed to have problems with their order with the same waitress. No discount or anything only a mumbled sorry when the male colleague came with the pizza. Very sad as we all enjoyed the food but the...
Read moreFood was edible. We were visiting from the UK and my partner got up and asked if they were still open and would be able to make a coffee. The lady behind the till said something aggressively in portugese and the rolled her eyes. We asked if everything was OK so another lady came and said " oh don't worry don't mind her". The black lady behind the till was rude and should not be in a job of customer service/care. What a ridiculous experience. Throughout us being there she kept giving us stares and speaking and Portuguese to her colleges and rolling her eyes. I'm not sure what her issue was but our stay was very...
