Sete Mares — Restaurant in Lisbon

The food was ok... It was not awesome.. but for not return soon. I was a monthly (3times visit/month) customer, some years ago.. the food and the service were awesome. But now.. it has lowered the quality of the food and the service. It's good... but not "The restaurant Sete Mare" from years ago. We ordered 5 different dishes.. only one was the good... (Bacalhau), all the rest were normal.. I say normal, for the price it cost. If it was in a normal place, it would be great.. here, it should be exceptional for the price at the end. But it was not.

The only thing good here, and fresh ,it's the seafood and the fish.. but remain in the same line... the prices... Ahhhh and of course... the best "Presunto" in the world #5j I said presunto to distinguish between portuguese "ham" it means "Fiambre" ... What I am referring it's Presunto... if you did never tried.. it's a good place to do it.. (keep an eye I the prices), but this "Presunto" it's awesome.... I know it since some years ago.

The staff... well.. nothing to point it out, but nothing better than the lower expectives, compared some years ago.

Try to make some changes.. everything change.. try to adopt.

Within my thinking and opinion the name "Sete Mares" means one of the best seafood restaurant in Lisbon. Don't lose that record..

My wife and I had an incredible experience dining here. The restaurant was packed, we didn’t have reservations and we were offered seats at the bar. We hesitated, but the bartender was so gracious, saying ‘these are the best seats in the house’ and motioned for us to have a seat. He was absolutely correct, we had front row tickets to the see the workings of this restaurant watching the staff prepare the seafood and our bartender multitasking taking meal orders, serving cocktails while slicing ham for the appetizer plates. Unfortunately they had run out of sea bass, so the bartender heads to the iced seafood and placed a local fish on a plate to present to my wife. He described in English the texture and flavor being comparable to the sea bass and guaranteed she love the flavor. Meanwhile we had the opportunity to watch the staff wrangle live lobster from their huge tank. Some were fighters, we’d never see them ‘swim’ before and splash the wranglers! Our bartender received our fish, he de-boned it himself and served it... these employees were all seasoned (mature) veterans and total professionals. And the bill... far less than ‘Bonefish’ or other upscale seafood franchise in the states. Great...

The worst customer service ever. The restaurant was almost empty at the time that we arrived. The waiter requested us at the time the we arrive to choose our food fast cause the kitchen was about to close, It is okay, I understand his point of view and it is really nice that he was thinking in that way. I advise him that we will hurry. First we took something to drink and he start to make faces and walk around, we did not feel comfortable to eat there so I advise him that we will only drink and go. He really got mad and request us to pay immediately and be hurry to drink and go. It was 00:40 in the night the restaurant open time is until 02:00. I paid the drinks and we drink peacefully. Meanwhile he was staring at us and doing strange faces. It was my first horrible restaurant service in Portugal! Not recommended at all! I was really looking for eat there based on the comments but after this even if I have time to come earlier, it really out of my list.
