O Parque do Calhau fica situado no extremo nordeste do Parque Florestal de Monsanto, junto a outro local que deve ser também obrigatoriamente visitado - estou a referir o Palácio dos Marqueses de Fronteira. Importa lembrar, também, que o subsolo deste Parque é atravessado pelo cano subterrâneo do Aqueduto das Águas Livres (construído entre 1729 e 1748) e cujas imponentes claraboias-torres de ventilação não conseguem passar despercebidas ao visitante deste espaço verde onde predominam sobreiros, azinheiras e medronheiros, apenas para referir algumas das espécies de árvores e de plantas que predominam harmoniosamente neste parque fundamental para Lisboa e para quem gosta de pedalar, correr ou de fazer caminhadas.
