O Convite — Restaurant in Maia

The hotel receptionist told me about this traditional Portuguese restaurant which unusually for a Monday is pretty incredible. Most restaurants in this area have a break for staff on a Monday. From the outside, you wouldn't know that it's cosy and comfortable and I soon found this out when I walked in for dinner. Portuguese people tend to eat at a later time in the evenings so I had a choice of tables to choose from. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. They recommended one of the dishes of the day and I was pleasantly surprised as my choice of "Oven cooked Pork loins with walnuts, rice and gravy was very tasty! You can't beat Portuguese restaurants on value as for €18 euros all in, I had starter, a 450ml jug of Portuguese Green wine, my main course, a delicious pudding and coffee with a brandy...I think that this absolutely amazing. Thanks to all the staff for making my dinner experience so very enjoyable and memorable. Definitely be back when I'm in this Porto...

Very earthy real Portugal feel to the place. It is a neighborhood restaurant where the locals gather and watch football, eat and drink. There are cured hams hanging above the bar and they have a brick oven and a grill. The owner joins his friends at the table. I stayed more for the experience than the food.

I was served an empanada appetizer as is usual when you sit down in a Portugal restaurant. I ordered red wine, mixed salad and the steak Convite. The wine was served in a ceramic carafe. The steak is grilled with a fried egg on top, served with fries and rice. The meal was simple and everything was good.

The whole dinner was about 15 Euro, and the pleasant pressure in my stomach reminded me that it was more than...

After a long intercontinental trip, this was what we didn’t know was needed at less than 15min walk from the airport.

The place gives u the best local vibes, the menu, simple and effective, even on a Friday lunch it was almost full but still not that much noise, u can have a talk with no problems also with the waiter who understands English as well and knows how to do the job properly letting you enjoy the meal matched with the perfect vibes.

The only thing that makes it 4 stars is that the appetizers were brought without asking them and we paid for those and the bread at the end.
