Tomar de Sal — Restaurant in Maia

My husband and I visited many restaurants between Lisbon and Porto. We were not expecting the most memorable dinner to be the one we visited while staying at our airport motel waiting to fly out in the morning. Tomar de Sal exceeded all our expectations and the owners were absolutely charming and wonderful, treating us like welcome friends and courteously taking the time to explain things in English.

Our host suggested some dishes and wine for us, and we were so glad we took his recommendations. I have NEVER had pork like that in my life and the "chocolate cake" was far far beyond "chocolate cake." Notes of caramel and rich chocolate in a velvety but crispy pie.

We joked during the meal that if we moved to Portugal we would need to drive visiting friends back to the airport to eat at Tomar de Sal because it was our favorite visit during our whole trip. Oh, the sausage was really good too.

Wow this place is totally Amazing. We were staying at the Park Hotel the night before flying home. We just walked passed this restaurant and it was totally full. We knew that was a really and truly good sign. We were treated by An Amazing Lady her smile was truly Amazing and she was extremely warm welcome when greeted into the restaurant. The Food was Amazing, the wine was totally a Amazing too. This restaurant totally cheered me up because we had a truly bad experience with rude service at the Park Hotel near Porto Airport. This Restaurant is one of the Best Restaurants in Porto. And Next time I am in Porto I will be calling in Again. Soon Hopefully. This is truly a hidden 💎. I was in Porto November 2023, and when I entered this restaurant, I was treated like family. Gabriel is an amazing host and also owner. His wife, the chef, makes masterpiece creations that make you want more. I ordered tuna pate, bread and olives for a starter, along with a chilled glass ofcwhite wine. My main dish was the Bacalhau com broa, I ate everything and it was truly mouth watering. Dessert I ordered the Rabanada which was perfectly made. This was truly a memorable experience, and I can't wait to go back. Thank you Gabriel and family for your amazing food and service...
