Bela Vista — Restaurant in Monchique

Worst food and drinks we have ever had in our life. We are completely chocked that someone can serve this to humans. We started off with two aperol spritz that tasted like cheap orange juice. Then we got the chicken peri peri that was completely dry and tasteless and looked like the cheapest of the cheapest meat. The sardines were burned, dry and tasted like a salt explosion. We both took one bite and couldn't eat more. We gave it back without paying for it. At least the owners were nice about it...

The coffee was fine, but the gentleman who served it could not have been more grumpy. We really got the impression that he did not want us there (they had just opened for the day). The lady was, in contrast, charming.

They also only take cash, but very reluctantly produced a card machine when we had no cash. I offered to visit a nearby cash point but he didn’t want that and raised his level of grumpiness and allowed us to use the machine. We won’t return (as you may...

We stopped for a quick light lunch and this place was spot on. We sat in the square under canopies and watched the world go by while we waited for our food. My cheese omelette was cooked beautifully, others had the squid, burger and Piri Piri chicken all were very tasty and thoroughly enjoyed by those who ate them.
