Reading the reviews, you either love or hate this place. We loved it. We just dropped by on an early evening, with the sun still up and we hadn't planned to go out for dinner but were just stunned by the view of the restaurant. Right at the coast, overlooking the ocean, we were lucky to get a table on the terrace. Yes, you do pay extra for the location, compared to other places to eat in town. But it is well worth it! We had the clams for starters and then the sole from the barbecue, both were just great! The price on the menu mentions the fish in kg; once you decide, the fish is weighed and presented to you, so you aren't in the dark about what you pay. There is some very basic salad and fries that come with the fish, and yes, it could be presented with more love. But I couldn't care less about the garnishes, we came for fish and seafood, and they were awesome. I have been visiting this restaurant for 14 years with my Portuguese husband and we have been loyal customers. Yesterday, I didn’t have a great experience. We ordered steak which was good quality and prawns, which were excellent too. However, when the bill came we were overcharged, by as much as 20 euros, on the weight of the meat (around 500 grams but the weight was closer to 400g) and we were overcharged on drinks. We ordered “gin”, and it tasted like Gordon’s but the bill stated Hendricks and came with a huge price tag. The place renowned for quality ingredients, fish and the sunset but beware -it seems you have to be very specific with the waiting staff since it became popular and ask for the weight of your food when ordering. Some of the people giving this place bad reviews are SO stupid and I’m here to correct this. Firstly, Portuguese meals served “just” on a silver plate is EXACTLY the type of meal you want for an authentic experience while visiting. Secondly, why would you order a chicken when this area is renowned for it’s seafood? Rookie errors by stupid tourists.

We arrived here quite late and just before the kitchen was closing. We had an incredibly friendly waiter squeeze in our order and said he’d take care of us because he knew we were hungry.

He didn’t disappoint! We had an amazing feast - sardines, clams, steak, pork, salad and chips. He went above and beyond the entire time to serve us and the food was absolutely delicious! The best part, it’s all enjoyed next to the ocean! Definitely...
