terrible, rude, poor quality, inedible

Service: The owner of the restaurant is unfriendly and angry. His daughter also serves tables, speaks only Portuguese. She brought glasses, stuck her fingers in the glasses. She dropped one glass on my plate, the plate was broken. There was food on the plate, we paid for it anyway. The waitress (if you can call her that) swept the shards of the plate onto my lap and under our table with her nails and fingers. She did not even say “sorry”.

We waited our order about an hour.

Dirty dishes and empty bottles are not removed from the table. We had to put dirty plates on the floor until the waitress figured out how to clean them.

The owner tried to write out a bill for us on a piece of newspaper, then started writing prices on a paper tablecloth right on our table. We asked for a normal bill according to the law, the owner said that a typical authentic bill is that piece of paper or on a tablecloth, and we do not want to enjoy the charm of Olhao traditions.

We told the owner that we would never come again. The owner of this terrible restaurant replied that he very much hopes not to see us again.

Food: Horrible! We ordered stingray. The pot contained 2 pieces of stingray, 5 whole potatoes, lots of raw garlic, lots of oil and even more vinegar - it was mostly vinegar in the pot. It's just dangerous to eat, you can burn your esophagus. It's all vinegar. We complained that it was impossible to eat. The owner started shouting, involving other people in our argument, we didn't feel safe.

Fried sole fish - only bones, cat food.

We didn't eat anything. The owner said that it was our problem, he liked it very much, he said that he ate our skate in vinegar which we refused to eat.

Please be careful! Your health, mood and money are at risk in this restaurant.

What a pity that such people run a business in the service and food sector. It will trample the image of beautiful Portugal, its wonderful cuisine, culture, beauty and kindness.

We are very sad!

We live in Portugal with our entire extended family. We have many friends who come to the Algarve for their holidays. Of course, we will do our best to tell everyone, including the guides and the Olhão city hall, about our unforgettable visit to...

My group was very hyped about having dinner in this restaurant, because we thought that it was Petiscaria Casa de Pasto (which I've also tried and recommend). The owner was very nice to us, but, during our dinner, he showed some weird passive-aggressive attitudes that ruined a bit our experience: at some point during our dinner, another group was standing in front of the restaurant and taking their time to decide whether they wanted to eat in Casa de Pasto Algarve or not; the owner lost his patience and told them to do whatever they wanted and that he was done with it, all this in an aggressive tone. The food came and it was okay. Not brilliant, but the fish was fresh and well-cooked. Just a bit too much oil in the skate boiled with garlic. I think that our expectations were just a bit too high after the owner sold the restaurant's dishes as one of the best gastronomical experiences that one can have. In the end, we found it weird that the owner calculated the final bill on a piece of paper and asked if we could get cash from the ATM machine next door. I mean, if he had ATM, why did he ask us to get cash? Inconvenient and suspicious. Anyway, it was a bad experience overall, and I hope that the owner is humble enough to improve some aspects that can be read in this comment section and make this restaurant great, because we really liked the concept, the location and the freshness of...

Only after sitting down did I read the reviews of this place but I'll be unpersuasive by those with this review. We arrived just did 3 other groups and begun worrying that since we all ordered at the same time that they would have us waiting for a long time. At this point we were the only groups there. Happy to say we didn't wait long. The young waitress was nice but I sense that she wasn't familiar with waitressing or with the menu because she was quick to say she'd get her dad to take our orders. It later turned out that she would take everyone's order. One of the dishes that we ordered, we were told that it comes either with a dozen or 24 pieces of fish. Thought it odd to have so much fish that we asked only for it be served with only 6 which turned out to be enough. Food arrived and neither of us were impressed. The salmon had roughly 3-4 cloves of raw chopped up garlic pieces and the plate drizzled with olive oil. The portions of salmon were generous and the salad was just chopped up raw green and red peppers and a whole lot of chopped up onion with a simple dressing of olive oil and vinegar. I can't speak on behalf of what my company had but she wasn't impressed also. It's a family run business and I hate to be very harsh but I can't recommend this place.

I originally give 3/5 stars which was generous but after the pitiful response by the owner I'm adjusting it to...

Had the raia (skate wing) cooked Olhão style and it was incredible! Came with perfectly boiled potatoes straight from the pot - simple but so good. The fish was fresh as can be, seasoned beautifully with garlic and coriander. Authentic Portuguese cooking at its best. I'll definitely be coming back to try more from their daily specials!
