Sadly an awful experience for us. Food was nice but spoilt by very rude service from one member of staff. Other members of staff were lovely but embarrassed. The problem started with another customer knocking over my daughter’s drink, into her food and over her clothing, and the glass smashed around her feet. She was left sticky and part of her food was spoilt (it was a porn star martini). We requested a replacement 4 times and I had to get customers from another table to confirm what had happened before it was actually replaced. To be doubted that we were telling the truth was horrible. By this point the pleasure of the evening had been lost. This was then followed by a “dirty look” from the member of staff when I went to the toilet. I spoke to the member of staff about this, and was given a horrible shot out of a hip flask as a token apology. It felt insincere. I don’t think I have ever in my 54 years of life left a restaurant feeling so sad, and I have certainly never felt so inclined to give such a detailed review before now. To be doubted and treated like this...
Read moreAvoid like the plague unless your idea of a good time is to have your trousers pulled down and your T shirt lifted over your head! Asked for a vodka and orange and was brought a large glass with some kind of orange slime lurking on the bottom and ice and presumably vodka at the top. The two refused to mix in any way. My husband asked for a beer and when it arrived, it was in glass the size of an Agar dish (?1/4 of a pint.) I ordered the camembert with walnuts, raspberries and honey - a sharing plate. It was a fair sized portion that arrived accompanied by some Ryvita crackers that looked like they'd been nibbled for decoration!!! The camembert was just tepid and revolting. We gave up. I went to pay, it was over 17 euros!!! 9 alone for the vodka. 😤 We're not tourists, we lived here for many years, normally we've avoided tourist areas because of exactly this kind of bandit. Do yourself a favour, go into the back streets and get...
Read moreHands down the worst dining experience we experienced in Olhão.
Took 30 minutes to be served in a quiet restaurant, brilliant bartender, friendly but seemingly constantly overwhelmed waiting staff, no management presence at all during our visit, even when we complained at the end, I'm not even sure there's even a manager in the restaurant. The food was average at best, our last dish arrived a full 20 minutes after the first, the tempura batter for the prawns tasted odd, thick and stodgy, when the highlight of our dining experience was the cheeseboard, something needs to be reconsidered in the kitchen. Ordered wine once our food had half arrived, but after 15 minutes of waiting, we cancelled it. At points, completely ignored by wait staff, to the extent that the bartender doorstopped one of them to turn back and serve us. Reached the point where we essentially paid €70 for an hour of cringe and hopeless laughing at...
