On December 28th, 2024, I had a grilled tuna steak at Olhão Marisco, a seafood bar by the market. The waiter assured us, "Our fish is very fresh and comes from the sea. You can be sure it's good." An hour later, I was in the hospital with severe food poisoning. My body became swollen, my skin turned dark and I experienced extreme digestive distress and a dangerously fast heartbeat. The diagnosis was scombroid food poisoning, which occurs from eating fish with high levels of histamine due to improper storage or processing. Tuna is particularly susceptible to this if not kept at low temperatures. I guess the tuna at this bar was displayed in an outdoor glass showcase without proper refrigeration or ice. Waw!!! So great place in the corner of the street. You would thing that is not good because of the look but actually it is surprising kitchen.The coffee is really good! The service is friendly. The lunch is amazing as we had fresh oysters and we could choose the fish ourself! Honest food for fair price! We paid €26 for 2 whites wines ( full glass), 2 fish with potatoes with salads, 4 oysters and olives were I guess inclued. The seafood soup for 2 people was spectacular. However we were surprised when the bill for 2 juice and the soup was 54€. They did place 2 cod fish cakes on the table which we ate, but we declined the olives, bread, and wine. We were also verbally told the amount of the bill, not provided with a copy. Normally we would have complained but decided not to ruin our day with a dispute. Besides, this review will be a better summary for them. Interesting that prices are not posted and no bill was given.
