Delícia de Olhão — where self-control comes to die, and dessert comes to reign. Let’s get one thing clear: This is not a café. This is a pastry museum, a carbohydrate cathedral, a soft-lit portal to the afterlife, and in that afterlife… every soul is glazed, filled, or meringued. There is so. much. cake. Every shelf behind the counter looks like it was curated by a sugar deity with a baroque aesthetic and a sense of humor. You don't choose a dessert here — it chooses you. I stared too long and ended up with a fruit tart that knew things about my childhood. And just when you think the sugar’s won, they hand you the Plate of the Day. For 10 euros, you get a home-cooked meal that tastes like it was made by someone’s forgiving grandmother who just wants you to eat more, talk less, and sleep well. Stewed meat, buttery potatoes, generous salad on the side — unpretentious, tender, satisfying. Like a warm hug from a stranger you inexplicably trust. Service? Fast. Functional. No time for frills. This place isn’t here to perform hospitality — it is hospitality, baked into every layer of sponge cake and slathered on thick like apricot glaze. P.S. If you walk out of here without dessert, you’re not strong. You’re simply in denial. Come back tomorrow. The cake will still be here. And it will remember you. 📸 See photos above if you dare. Just don’t blame me if you end up...
Read moreAfter a horrible experience at another place, we went to this place because it had lots of locals in there.
Do not let the decor fool you. The food is amazing and the staff is amazing! The staff immediately welcome you and ask engaging questions. We ordered the tuna and the heek fish. The fish had lovely spices on it. Not too bland and not too salty. Very fresh and good portion. There is also a bakery section where you can find a plethora of cakes if you want something sweet afterwards. You can also get some bread for your morning breakfast. This is the type of place that Anthony Bourdain would have recommended as a mom and pop type of place feel.
Very affordable too and don't forget to tip the staff because they have to outrun their own lungs that's how busy it can...
Read moreThis is a nice place to get away from tourists' traps in the heart of Olhao in a busy touristic place in front of the bay. The food is homemade and at a reasonable price compared to the competition. The bife de atun with onions was a respected portion for 9 euro and the burger was incredibly good for a cost of 3.50. Then the selection of homemade Portuguese pastries to die for for no more than 2 euros accompanied with a 1.90 euro cup of coffee. A place to come back! Don't make me start talking about the staff, a delight of treatment and...
