Very strange experience here last night.
We sat down to eat, but we had to leave before ordering as we had received a message from our children to say that they were already in a different place.
Upon leaving, the boss told me that I was very disrespectful. I asked him why, and he said that we were rude.
I said that I didn’t understand. He said yes you understand English. I said no I mean I don’t understand how is leaving after 2 minutes is disrespectful.
Then 2 gentlemen from a table of 30 turned to me and asked me what my problem was in a very aggressive way.
I told them to relax and to smile as there was not a problem as far as I was concerned.
I found the whole experience very strange. I am not sure why they were so angry. We were just a man and his wife with a 12 year old who had sat down, intending to order, and then had to leave as we had realised that we were in the wrong place.
Why the owner and the customers turned on me I cannot understand. It was a very strange and frustrating experience.
If they had given me a chance to explain why we had to leave maybe their anger would have been prevented.
Although, I have found that Olhao has changed a lot in the 5 years that I last visited. Maybe it’s to do with the influx of wealth. When places become more touristy, it does follow that the business’s can lose respect for the tourist and only see them as €’s rather than human beings like them…
I will not be returning to Olhao, for me it is ruined by these...
This Portuguese restaurant is a true gem by the harbor. The traditional dishes are wonderfully prepared, offering an authentic taste of Portugal. The highlight is definitely the Frango Piri Piri, which is among the best we have ever tried. The service is exceptionally attentive, warm, and friendly, making every visit a pleasure. Since there are not many traditional restaurants left by the harbor, we appreciate this one all the more – and we love coming back...
Read moreThis looks like many of the other restaurants on this strip. I haven’t eaten at all of them so I can’t see how it compares. I was very happy with the price, the service and they have some good bottles of wine well worth paying a bit more money for these. My only complaint was the sardines were not cleaned. I really find this off putting. Also our plates were not taken away half an hour after we finished. Nonetheless, I would return as the chocos and octopus were very good. The owner was...
