Definitely the best Portuguese food I’ve had in Régua do Douro. This is a truly traditional Portuguese restaurant – exactly what restaurants in Portugal should be. It’s worth waiting for your meal: everything is freshly prepared, generous in portion, and without any unnecessary “modern experiments.”
I had on 18 August 2025 in the evening the perna de borrego from the grill and caldo verde. The soup was excellent, with plenty of carrot giving it a distinctive flavor. The lamb was grilled simply with salt, without the excess herbs that often kill the natural taste – just perfect.

The owner is eager to please — during a recent visit, I mentioned that I wanted gelatin, and he actually made it for me and had it ready for my next visit. As a vegetarian, I really appreciated that he also prepared meat-free rice, beans and baked potatoes and even offered a variety of different and delicious vegetarian soup.
