Avoid at all cost. A contestant for kitchen nightmares

We were slightly confused when there was nobody there when we walked in, but foolishly sat down anyway. The menu boasted a lot of indian staples, however as soon as the food arrived we realized the dishes had been microwaved and seemed to have been reheated several times. We ordered lamb tikka masala and prawn korma. Neither of us could identify what was the lamb or prawn. We both got bowls of a uniformly chunky liquid. It tasted super bland and lacked any texture at all. Even the nan bread was chewy and clearly not freshly made. We got up after about 10 minutes and asked for the bill. They did not ask how the meal was even when we got up abruply, they definitely know how bad the food is. The service was also very uncomfortable and awkward. Not welcoming at all.

We were in Portimao just for half a day taking the obligatory Banagali Tour and found this cosy little place by the beach by Googling. Being a Bangladeshi, I normally avoid going to deshi restaurants (I get it at home after all!) but the kids were missing spicy meat after 3 days of fresh fish😆. We were all very pleasantly surprised by both the flavours and the fantastic service.

We thought we’d found a top rated central London Indian food at around third the price. Being opposite a picture perfect beach is a bonus. Upon enquiring we found out that both the chef and the management has had a recent change and moved over from London. Suddenly, the flavour, service and unique ideas of serving in metal karhai made sense.

If visiting Portimao from the U.K. I would make this a must stop. We had a hearty 2 course meal for a family of five for €60 (no alcohol) - so the price...

Multiple things were wrong with this restaurant

(1) the food took 20+ min to come out. and when it did, the staff forgot who ordered what and tried to give my food to someone who order after me

(2) there was almost no food in the order. it's overpriced, so if you expect to be fed based on the amount you pay then you'll be disappointed

(3) the service is terrible. after i got my food, i asked for utensils. they said they didn't have to-go utensils, so i then asked to have utensils to eat inside. after a 10 min wait on utensils, i asked again to have some. the wait staff got angry with me then finally gave me something to eat with. some feedback is if they are so worried about giving utensils for some reason, then they should ask for a cash deposit for people to return the utensils when...
