I really wanted to love this place. I did a Google search for “Best Burger Near Me Open Now”, and Jhon was at the top of the list with over 600 reviews, and a 4.9 rating.

I live in Lagos. Just about a 10 mile drive, and because I was already in Portimão, I wanted to find a local, highly rated burger joint.

The “Pepper Burger” I had was two smash patties, jalapeño, with cheese and bacon.

There were six jalapeños rings, mild.

The patties were good, just not “WOW!”.

French fries were okay, again, nothing special.

Ketchup and mustard packets on the table, but no olive oil or mayo. I probably could have asked.

Service was good, but not over the top friendly.

My total bill with a 0.5 liter beer came to $20.

VERY reasonable compared to the US or UK, but middle of the road for Portugal.

In Lagos, and even Alvor, there are a number of places where the burgers are better (IMO of course) for about 50-75% of what Jhon charges.

Bottom line?

It was good, and if I lived within a block or two, I would go back.

I definitely won’t return just because I may be in the area.

Been for a takeaway twice now the burgers are great tasty too. The downside is the lack of English speaking staff yes I know it’s a different county but lots of people from the uk visit here every year my liverpool accent does not help either . Went there the first time the young girl serving me did not have a clue what I was saying leading to her having to ask another girl to come and assist not too bad . Went again last night what a joke young girl took my Order after me showing pics on the menu had to wait as uber eats took preference first ok I thought on my hols nice night keep cool then my Order come out only one burger so I said I ordered 2 that one’s going to be cold now . Oh it’s ok was the reply put it under one of them 40watt bulbs had to wait again when I got it back to the hotel hence to say it was Luke warm .
