Masala House — Restaurant in Portimão

I'd been here several times and recommended it to many friends, but my last visit in November 2019 I was very disappointed. Four of us went out for a meal, unfortunately i should have known we was in for a bad night when four starters could not be served together. There was a 15 minute delay between the first two (Onoin Bajiis) and the next two coming out (Sheekh Kebab) not good when you are dining as a four. I understand fresh food takes time but there was only some 10 people in the restaurant in total. When the second set of of sheekh Kebab arrived it was tasteless not spicy at all and when we was nearly finished these a slightly spicy marinade arrived not good really. The mains wasn't great well below the usual standard not the normal fresh ingredients, this also came out in dribs and drabs. I could go on but I think for me its better to vote with my feet....

Ordered the " dish of the day" it's a lunch special basically, includes rice, naan, choice of a few dishes etc... which is a "special price" and is the same as what the other Indian restaurant offers two doors down, I ordered an extra papadam, which I paid for, and expected to be charged for. However I was full and asked that I take away the rest for later, to be told no you can't, this is the dish of the day!?!.....This is not ALL YOU CAN EAT! I paid for the meal! never had this problem at the Indian 2 doors down under the same special. Hadn't tried Masala in a while,I have to admit the atmosphere is much nicer then the other so thought I would give them a go again, but that will be the last! Masala House was the most amazing restaurant in Portimao, Algarve. The ambiance was spectacular and unique. The restaurant was spotless and had a great vibe. You could tell the tourists and regulars enjoyed the food and the service. Rohit and the staff went above n beyond to cater to our needs. The food was delicious and made to satisfy the needs of the customer, Mild to hot they were so accommodating. Masala house is a happening place, you could see the customers enjoyed the tasty food. The staff were so friendly and i will go back the next time i travel to Algarve. I recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Portimao. They will absolutely love it, as much as i did.
