Ao entrar no “Estrela do Lima”, a primeira impressão é de um ambiente acolhedor, mas essa sensação rapidamente se desvanece quando se é confrontado com o primeiro de muitos problemas: o tempo de espera. Os clientes são recebidos com uma fila de espera que parece não ter fim, onde cada minuto se arrasta como se fosse uma hora. A espera é tão longa que se poderia ler um romance inteiro antes de ser atendido. Quando finalmente se consegue uma mesa, a expectativa pela comida é alta, mas é logo abafada pelos preços exorbitantes que saltam do menu. Cada prato é cobrado como se fosse uma iguaria rara, mas quando a comida chega, a quantidade é tão mínima que mal se vê no prato. É um verdadeiro desafio encontrar a refeição entre a vastidão do porcelana branca. E se os preços e as porções já não fossem motivo suficiente para uma experiência desagradável, a má disposição dos funcionários certamente selaria o destino deste estabelecimento. Os empregados movem-se pelo restaurante com uma nuvem de desânimo sobre as cabeças, servindo os pratos com uma frieza que rivaliza com a do próprio polo norte. Em resumo, o “Estrela do Lima” é um restaurante que promete muito e entrega pouco. Entre o tempo de espera interminável, os preços que fazem a carteira chorar e a quantidade de comida que deixaria até um passarinho com fome, é difícil encontrar razões para voltar. E a cereja no topo do bolo foi, sem dúvida, a máquina de pagamento falhar e perdermos ainda mais tempo neste MARAVILHOSO restaurante.

Absolutely the best place to eat in Porto. I pray that this restaurant will remain open forever so that I could go back to Porto to eat here again. Everything on their menu is so great. I love that there's a new dish every day and you can have a tasty lunch for less than €10. The staff is always nice and friendly as well. I ate here multiple times during my two-week stay in Porto!

110524 update: 7 months ago I said that I could not wait to go back… well, I am lucky enough to have been there two more times and each time is better than the last. The owner/chef is amazing and his beautiful family was there tonight. You can really feel how much they all care and love the restaurant. They orange cheesecake with the brownie and caramel crust is something that I will definitely dream about. So unique and amazing. Treat yourself… go get some immediately.

This was not the best introduction to Portuguese food or service.

We were ushered to a seat fairly quickly by the manager.

We waited 15 minutes for menus, which we took from the bar. 3 members of staff were busy setting up and totally ignored us. No eye contact, no drinks offered, nothing.

After 20 minutes, the manager came over and asked us what we wanted from the menu. No apologies, so we decide to have coffee as we didn’t have the confidence that our lunch would arrive in reasonable time.

We were told to leave as “ … this is a restaurant, not a cafe! “
