O Esgalha — Restaurant in Ribeira Grande

Don’t waste your time in this place as we were looking for a place to eat, but most places in the area are closed on Mondays, so our friends recommend this place there was no there, this was 6pm we were there till 8:30pm as that’s how long it took for meals to come out. Midway we were going to use a glass to pour a drink, and was shocked to see most of the glass cups were dirty, we addressed to the waiter and owner and he admitted he noticed it too and says it looks as if, they mixed the clean with the dirty glasses yuck!!! Best part they don’t pick up any of the glasses to rewash them it’s not like they were busy it was just us 4 still seating there. The meals are very tasteless was looking forward to a good home cooked meal and this was not the place. My friends order 2 chocolate moose’s for dessert it was runny they asked why was it runny, the waitress said oh that’s because the lady just made it, and didn’t want to refrigerate were like what? So why serve it if it’s not set? So she said she was going to remove it off the bill, we go to pay we see she has added both moose’s to the bill. I think I would’ve eaten better at McDonald’s across the street than eat...

We waited too long for the main courses; two ladies who arrived after us were served before us what seemed to be similar main courses; one of the main courses was not the one we asked; we were served by or had to ask the attention of three different waiters as it seemed there was not one specific waiter for our table; the food was good but below the average when compared to restaurants at the same price level. As the room is big I would say finding a table is likely not to be a problem. The dessert...

Better then the high end restaurants in the area !! Food was extremely delicious and large portions for generous prices. Large well ventilated restaurant area and very clean. Very impressed with the customer service, Erica was our waitress and she was awesome. Knowledgeable and caring and helpful in understanding the menu and the choices available.
