We had a flight cancelled and ended up being diverted via Madeira with a 5-hour layover. Thought we'd take the opportunity to get out into the island and have some lunch by the sea and stumbled across this place, which was perfect. The woman behind the bar couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, the food and drinks were great, especially the alheira, and the atmosphere was really relaxed with a spectacular view of the waves crashing in. Read moreOther than the name suggests, there was nothing "eco": Drinks are served in plastic mugs; and - at the time of my visit - a noisy diesel generator was running nonstop, polluting the air on a seafront place directly at the promenade where people use to have sports and walkings. I am surprised how this can be allowed in 2024 and what the people of this beautiful island have to endure.
