Mar&ante — Restaurant in Sesimbra

In response to the owner's reply:

1. What exactly do you think I was doing when I went to the bathroom? I was seeing what was happening.
2. I usually use Tripadvisor, where I have also written a review, and also where you will find many reviews. I have also given stars to a few businesses on Google Maps, but have never felt overtly positive / negative about a place to write the review in two different sites. This changed with the behaviour presented yesterday.

What started out as a quiet birthday celebration with two mums and their daughters ended up being completely ruined by a rude, aggressive member of staff. The two girls (16 years old) used the toilet when the door knob fell off, this initially caused giggles but when they were shouted and screamed at by a member of staff, I had to step in. I personally witnessed the girls being yelled at and accused of having vandalized the bathroom door. My niece later informed me that she had been rudely shoved aside just before I appeared. When approached by my sister and I, said bar staff listed a list of excuses for having treated the girls with such lack of respect and professionalism. Stress was mentioned first - now, obviously we don’t know what personal troubles said person is going through in her life, but a quiet Thursday evening in a small bar does not constitute as professional stress. When asked for the complaints book, the manager came and spoke to me. Despite having had a calm attitude, it is a shame that he did so after I had asked for the book. We were offered the drinks but would have rather had a positive experience and paid for them. I hasten to add the following: 1 - regardless of whatever issues people are having, there is no excuse for aggression and disrespect. 2 - the girls took photos of the door knob on the floor and the door which appears to have bits missing from the lock. 3 - said member of staff almost apologized to me, but when speaking to the girls, reeled off a list of excuses to justify her inexcusable behaviour. 4 - another member of staff was overheard saying that the toilet door was...

We chose at random from the many establishments along the front, wanting some tapas and a drink. We had a bit of a wait for the waiter to see to us, and there was a further delay in getting drinks and ordering food, with many items unavailable. Although there was another wait for our burgers to be served, they were nice enough and the fries were crispy and very hot. We assumed they were short staffed for some reason or another, and saw several people give up and leave, but the young lad serving was doing his best, and a lady colleague (perhaps the owner?) came out and apologised. Recentemente, eu e o meu namorado tivemos a oportunidade de visitar Mar&ante, que nos encantou por completo. Gostaria de partilhar a nossa experiência maravilhosa e recomendar este bar!

Em primeiro lugar, preciso realçar a estrela do menu: a sangria! Foi, sem dúvida, a melhor que já provámos em Sesimbra e Lisboa. É impossível não se apaixonar pela sangria deste bar, que foi preparada com carinho e ingredientes de qualidade.

Para além da sangria, não posso deixar de mencionar o prego no pão, um prato delicioso que conquistou o nosso paladar. A carne estava suculenta e saborosa, perfeitamente temperada e servida num pão fresquinho.

No entanto, o que realmente fez a diferença na nossa visita foi a presença da Rosa, a querida e atenciosa senhora que lidera o bar. Rosa recebeu-nos com um sorriso e simpatia fora do comum, e o seu carisma e gentileza fizeram-nos sentir em casa. Estava sempre pronta a atender os nossos pedidos, a aconselhar sobre as melhores opções do menu e, para além disso, proporcionou-nos momentos divertidos.

A atenção e o cuidado que a Rosa demonstrou para com todos os clientes foram impressionantes. Sem dúvida, ela é a alma do bar e contribuiu imensamente para que a nossa visita fosse memorável.

A atmosfera do estabelecimento também merece elogios. O ambiente é acolhedor e descontraído, perfeito para desfrutar de uma boa conversa entre amigos ou de um momento romântico a dois com vista de mar.

Em resumo, recomendamos vivamente este bar em Sesimbra. A sangria é incomparável, o prego no pão é delicioso e a Rosa, é simplesmente a melhor. A sua simpatia, humor e atenção aos clientes fazem toda a diferença. Não perca a oportunidade de visitar este local encantador e desfrutar de uma experiência incrível. Certamente voltaremos em breve!
