If you're in Tavira, you need to eat here in this small, unassuming restaurant just opposite all the fancy bistros/restaurants/tapas places (so tucked away we almost just walked past it without a second look!). My partner and I were in the mood for a real frango assado (grilled chicken) after having seafood most days and had high expectations since we're in the Algarve. We were not disappointed. After being greeted by the friendliest staff (and Benfica fans, about which my partner was already very happy) we ordered the chicken and what arrived was this perfectly juicy, tender yet crispy chicken with delicious homemade french fries. You can tell this is a family restaurant with real home cooking to perfection. Although the outdoor section is right next to the road, we preferred 100 x eating here than in a more pretty, 'comfortable' place across the street with lesser quality food and...

Hmmm not quite sure, what to say. We read the reviews so expected a lot more. The tables say 'reserved', but they're not. So you sit gratefully when offered one in the corner by the kitchen. Sorry, but . . . ? We had chicken (€10) and lamb chops (€18.50)- neither saw the charcoal. It came with fries, and what was offered - a small salad, 4 slices of cucumber, 4 pieces of tomato, a bit of lettuce and grated carrot - €5. A bottle of their own labelled house wine €14.50. So, . . . nearly €50 !!! It's like someone's kitchen, with florescent lighting. Even the cook comes to eat their meal at a table to watch a local soap on TV, picking the meat off a carcass, then shelling peanuts, and finally eating fruit with a paring knife. ?!? It's not "BBQ" special, and certainly not worth the money. I was quite disappointed tbh after...

You would pass by this little family run restaurant and not give it a second glance but I strongly recommend that you try it if you are visiting Tavira. If you like fish you are in for a treat. Absolutely delicious and served simply with chips or potatoes and salad. Staff friendly and efficient but have very little English except for Ricardo who deserves 5 stars on his own as he has the English, a great personality and is totally on top of his game and this makes for a very pleasant experience. On top of all that they have a good menu and everything is very well priced. Great family cooperation. Well done to all staff in...

Forget the touristy restaurants of Tavira, this is our favourite kind of Portuguese restaurant - excellent quality traditional Portuguese dishes at decent prices and a homely family feel. The dish of the day Bacalhau a Bras was perfectly cooked and delicious. The olives were local and fresh, and the house wines very good. Homemade pudim too, not too sweet. We love the relaxed atmosphere of these places, the proprietor family eating their lunch alongside us and friends dropping in for chats. The real Portugal! We're so glad we found this place and will return. And we hope that other visitors will give them some well deserved custom.

The restaurant is really a must if you are looking for good food in Tavira. From the front there is a window in which you can see the food being grilled using charcoal. We ate there twice and both times really enjoyed the food. The grilled chicken with Peri Peri is very good. The grilled fish also was amazing. Both are done over charcoal. I can see this place being really busy in high season.
