Pizzaria Luzzo — Restaurant in Tavira

We had the simple salad, tagliatelle and margarita pizza. The salad was very good. The pizza and pasta both arrived hot although the pizza had to be returned to the kitchen as I pointed out that there was no basil on it. All in all, the food was good, not exceptional, but still tasty.

Service was a bit spotty, very friendly but a bit disorganized.

I think our main gripe was the price of water - 5.6€ for two bottles, which I think is excessive.

Would we return? Yes, I think so.

We returned a few nights later to give it another chance based on the owner’s response. Again, the food - pizza, salad and tiramisu were excellent. BIG improvement on the service this time. Pedro was our waiter and he was exceptional in terms of service as well as on a personal level where he shared some interesting information with us. It’s that kind of connection that customers appreciate...

The new pizza place in town makes a quite generic appearance. Lot‘s of plastic flowers and wooden boards all over the tables (but they strangely still serve the pizzas on additional plates). A bit dark inside.

They have a hypermodern order system with tablet computers at the tables (to avoid human interaction with the waiters?) which works well. But it does not make things quicker — I waited half an hour for the pizza. I had no salad or anything else and the place was nearly empty for lunch. Sitting outside was not possible as the sun burns down.

The pizza was pretty good. The ingredients were of quality, the dough could have been a bit crispier. For the pizza itself 4,5 stars. The hot sauce is really hot, I loved it, but how apply correctly?

I hope the service will get quicker and the tablets donated to a school!...

From the moment we walked into Luzzo, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was absolutely exceptional. A huge shoutout to Pedro, who went above and beyond to make our evening unforgettable. His attention to detail, genuine hospitality, and knowledge of the menu were top-notch — he made us feel like honored guests.

And the food? Simply divine. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You can tell the kitchen puts care and passion into everything they serve. From the appetizers to dessert, each bite was a delight.
