"River Breeze"
Around 9:30PM on a Friday Evening we found ourselves looking for somewhere nice to eat. After one or two disappointing reservation attempts, we happened upon this traditionally tiled restaurant.
For prospective Customer's awareness, this restaurant only accepted cash payments.
The menu has a fantastic variety of fresh fish dishes which is exactly what we were looking for. Both of us had the carrot soup with Goat's cheese to start with. This soup was so wholesome, that it really set the bar for the rest of our Evening. The waiters were very kind, quirky and open to talking about the ingredients of each dish, which is very important for one of our party who has a particular allergy to tomatoes.
We went for different main courses. One of us had the sea bass which was filleted, and the other had duck breast marinated in Orange Sauce. Silence fell over the table as we enjoyed each morsel of food.
For desert we had the caramelised pear and almond dish and the vegan berry cheesecake. Both were scrumptious. This was the nicest dinner that we had in Tavira.
Couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Staff were very attentive. P.S. Toilets...

Food was excellent. Baby squid starter superb, as was the clams starter also. Himself had swordfish & I had lemon sole. Honestly some of the best and freshest fish eaten in Portugal & Spain this holiday. It was so good we returned again and were not let down the second time sea bream with prawns in an orange sauce, simple and delicious. It’s a small terrace with miss matched tables and chairs. The place is buzzing. The pace hectic. But the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Great wine selection - local Portuguese wines also. If you want snails pace I wouldn’t recommend here but if you don’t mind the hustle and bustle of busy serving staff who are nothing short of exceptionally friendly then definitely visit. Don’t forget to book and always worth...
Read moreA few years ago, we were there on a lunch and we loved the relaxed atmosphere and the food. We went back last night, and we were seated right away. We ordered our food (more on that in a second), and I asked our waiter for a recommendation of a dry and bold red wine. He recommended a bottle that was not on the menu and my goodness, did it deliver! It was a delicious Douro. The food was great and as yummy as we remembered. We had pica pau garlic and piri piri shrimp orange duck lamb chops
Pica pau, although delicious, was the least impressive dish. The other three are to die for! The garlic and piri piri has a such a balanced taste, we could not get enough of it. The orange duck was worthy of raves, but the lamb chops with chimichurri (an interesting sweeter taste on the sauce) was the star of the night.
The plating, the warm, friendly and fast service and the quality of the food served will have us back at this...
