I have read some negative reviews about this tasca and the owner, however, my experience was very different. The bar has been in his family for over 40 years and he does all the cooking and serving on his own, so it can get busy at times. He is clearly proud of his heritage and his bar andI found him to be a polite and interesting man. There is no menu, but on seeing what others were eating, I had the same. The first night I had clams and I can honestly say that they were the best clams that I have ever eaten. Each one filled the shell and tasted so sweet. The following evening I had dried tuna and cheese on bread, a local speciality. The tuna was delicious and not too salty and went well with the cheese. Would definitely return when next in Tavira as this is an authentic Portuguese bar rather than a bar for tourists, as so many...

My girlfriend and I asked for advice on the menu and were tricked into choosing the smoked tuna, the muxama and chorizo assado. Only to find that the smoked tuna was dry and poorly served; the muxama was bitter and probably out of date and the chorizo was not even cut, simple placed in the grill and served in a plate. On top of that, after waiting 30minutes to be served, we were also tricked into ordering more bread only to find that the chorizo came with bread on the plate. I ordered a beer as well, that never came but thankfully we managed to negotiate and take it off the bill. I absolutely do not recommend. Even if you are really hungry, I am sure any other place is best suited than this...

Traditional bar just off the east end of the Roman Bridge. The bar has a wide range of bottled local and continental beers and a few nice wines. Drinks are served with in-the-shell peanuts and potatoe crisps/chips. The hidden wonder is their tapas, it's reasonably priced and really nice. The bar was established in 1943 and I suspect it hasn't changed much since then. There are a couple of screens showing football (mostly Portuguese), but they aren't intrusive. I recommend you pop in and give it a try, we...

Very friendly and sympathetic staff, excellent tapas, lovely atmosphere. The tapas were delicious! We are looking forward to coming back. This is our favorite place in Tavira! Thank you very much! Update: we went to the Tasca do Zé André three times within two weeks and it was delicious every time. The Vinho Verde was very refreshing. The owner is such a wonderful and sympathetic person and does everything with great care. Thank you for this wonderful experience. <3

Everything is bad. You can ask yourself how the hygiene is in this place. Fork and knife is dirty, toast is burnt, cheese had mold, wine bottle seems to have been taken out of a garbage can. We ordered tuna with lemon, but it only tasted like lemon. We tried to talk to the owner, but he denied everything and did not want to talk. He went directly inside to get the bill to let us pay. I do not recommend anybody to go there.
