I have read some negative reviews about this tasca and the owner, however, my experience was very different. The bar has been in his family for over 40 years and he does all the cooking and serving on his own, so it can get busy at times. He is clearly proud of his heritage and his bar andI found him to be a polite and interesting man. There is no menu, but on seeing what others were eating, I had the same. The first night I had clams and I can honestly say that they were the best clams that I have ever eaten. Each one filled the shell and tasted so sweet. The following evening I had dried tuna and cheese on bread, a local speciality. The tuna was delicious and not too salty and went well with the cheese. Only to find that the smoked tuna was dry and poorly served; the muxama was bitter and probably out of date and the chorizo was not even cut, simple placed in the grill and served in a plate. On top of that, after waiting 30minutes to be served, we were also tricked into ordering more bread only to find that the chorizo came with bread on the plate. I ordered a beer as well, that never came but thankfully we managed to negotiate and take it off the bill. I absolutely do not recommend. Even if you are really hungry, I am sure any other place is best suited than this...

Drinks are served with in-the-shell peanuts and potatoe crisps/chips. The hidden wonder is their tapas, it's reasonably priced and really nice. The bar was established in 1943 and I suspect it hasn't changed much since then. There are a couple of screens showing football (mostly Portuguese), but they aren't intrusive. I recommend you pop in and give it a try, we...
