I visited the restaurant with my family a few days ago. At first, the atmosphere really impressed us — we walked in without even checking the reviews. We were welcomed by a very polite young man, whose name I unfortunately don’t remember, but he was definitely the highlight of the evening.
We chose the All You Can Eat option. Unfortunately, the meats took quite a long time to come out, and when they finally did, they were nearly raw. As someone who genuinely loves a good medium-rare steak, I can assure this wasn’t the case — the meat was almost completely raw from the first slice of the skewer.
Having worked alongside Brazilian steakhouses as a beef distributor and quality assurer, I can say with confidence that what might have happened is that the person working the grill was either not very experienced or had lost what we call the “momentum.” When nothing is ready to serve and the restaurant is busy, the grill operator tends to rush, turning up the heat to the maximum. This only sears the outside of the meat, giving it color but leaving the inside raw.
I’m sharing this as constructive feedback, not criticism. I understand that in a smaller town it can be difficult to find experienced barbecue staff. However, the end result was that we went home hungry, as we barely ate anything.
Overall, the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff, but the food quality didn’t meet expectations — especially considering the price.
I hope this feedback helps somehow. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it based on...
Read moreNow this is a very hard review to write. Firstly, I hate to be negative about anywhere right now, as Covid makes everything impossible. And it really is hard enough. But I’m writing this in the hope it will shake them up and help them get their act together. Because this place COULD be BRILLIANT.
The positives….it’s a fun concept, they’ve redone the space really nicely. The meat they use is great, and it’s such value for money. The young waiters who bring endless skewers of tasty meat are friendly and professional.
BUT the manager…you walk in and he seems perplexed and a bit unhappy that he has CUSTOMERS. You actually feel unwelcome, which is quite surreal, because everyone else in Tavira is desperately wanting your custom. You try to banter, and he walks off. You make encouraging noises and he almost grunts. Every so often he seems to remember that he should say something vaguely engaging 🤷♂️
Does he not want to have a restaurant? And yet he has clearly put so much effort in to create an amazing space and potentially superb restaurant. It really baffles me.
A pity. Because it could be the coolest place in central Tavira. But please, SORT YOURSELVES OUT!! Otherwise I wager it won’t...
