Royal Indian tandoori restaurant — Restaurant in Tavira

We have not been to The Indian Farmer for quite some time preferring to go into Tavira but wow! We visited last night (27/05/23) 10 of us. Lovely chap received us and was very attentive all evening. Poppadoms arrived promptly followed by our starters (onion bhaji) Nice to have a Cobra for a change instead of the usual Sagres or superbock. Main dishes ordered. Our dishes arrived and we commented on their aroma and appearance all positive. We all tried each of the dishes for flavour etc and every one was delicious. Spicyness was just right. Nan breads were wonderful as was the rice too. The restaurant is nicely decorated and welcoming. We all left a couple of hours later well fed and watered!. Let's be clear, my experience concerns 'Indian Farmer Tandoori Restaurant', not its neighbour 'Royal Indian Tandoori'. I hope the latter one is better than this 'Farmer' one. I had a lunch there today, and oh, I regret it. I asked Chicken Tandoori (11,50€ on the list) and got some chicken pieces in plain red sauce, no taste. The chicken itself was chewy and did not taste fresh. I asked a sparkling water and I was brought a big (pricey) bottle. Finally I had to pay 3,50€ EXTRA for the plain rice, as it was 'not included' in the dish. I felt that I was fooled and ripped off as a tourist. This was one of the worst Indian restaurants I've been until today, not to mention that covid measures are not being followed as indicated. The tandorri was really burnt and dry, and my daughter's tika chicken food was cold so it had been poorly thawed and tasted really bad, we left all the food on the plate. The employees' children without any respect and without masks and inappropriately were literally sitting at our table trying to see and access our daughters' tablets throughout the meal, and so we don't seem rude and not have a bad attitude with the children we do not saying anything, but the parents noticed our bad feeling and did nothing.
