Museu do Perceve — Restaurant in Vila do Bispo

Just left. They didn't have anything we wanted on the menu - all seasonal although I noted some were on their special board yesterday and had clams last night elsewhere. The waiter removed a plate and the wind blew wine all over me, completely soaked- I am heavily pregnant so walking around smelling of wine is not a good look. We waited a very long time for our main course to arrive. When it did the fish was delicious but the grilled prawns (23 euros) were so over cooked and tough I couldn't eat them. We also didnt have any knives to eat with and no waiter around to ask. When I went to pay the bill and told them about the prawns the new waiter who had arrived said it wasn't his fault and offered me nothing. I said if it was my restaurant I would at least offer a discount on the prawns - he just shrugged his shoulders. I have been coming to this area of Portugal for over 30 years and this is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my favourite country. The lunch took nearly 2 hrs and cost 103 euros for two adults and a small child sharing with us. I could see the first waiter was just having a bad day but what annoyed me was the complete unwillingness of the second waiter who had taken charge to have any sympathy, humour or sense of customer service. It was 8 of us.. We ordered 2 kids' meals - chicken nuggets and rice, meals were so super basic, kids were actually laughing.. 5 of us ordered steaks. (Because there wasn't much fish left or anything else on the menu at all!) I can confidently say that it was one of the worst steaks I've ever had. Every steak had a different shape and size. Mine was half the size of my friends 😅 And a third of it was chewy. I was evry disappointed and still hungry after having my meal. So basic for the price. 2 steaks were cold and had to be sent back to be heated up. My partner ordered a cataplana, and he said it tasted like it was defrosted in the microwave. We've travelled lots and have tasted delicious seafood cataplanas, but this was deeply disappointing. We did go to another restaurant the next night and had the best steaks ever! Which also confirmed how bad the food actually was at this place! And all 8 of us were disappointed and we are certainly NEVER coming back 😅

The service and the vibe were good though! Well, apart from there being the news on the tv about the 9/11, blood and dead people during our meal. We asked them to change the channel to anything else, it did take them a while to do it, but we had two young kids at the table so that...

We enjoyed a reunion lunch of old friends at this very good restaurant in Sagres. This is a seafood and grilled fish place so if you want battered cod and chips, go elsewhere. There was a very good choice of local fish, beautifully grilled. The sides were fresh vegetables and boiled potatoes. The wine list was reasonable. The staff were good, promt and helpful. The photographs on the wall are stunning. We had 3 cars so parking was ok, but on a busy day this could be an issue.
