My friends and I decided to go for few drinks on New Years Eve. As we never been to WOW we first started at the Golden Catch where a lovely waitress received us explaining the whole concept , she was very kind and told us that for a more 'evening/cozy' atmosphere the Angel's share upstairs was very nice.
I usually do not write critics about places I go but having worked many years in hospitality I was quite chocked by the service at Angel's share. My friends and I spend 150€ there and the service was terrible. In a trendy and expensive place like that when we spend that amount of money ( or not even) we expect a friendly/kind and attentive service. we were first proposed to go outside on the terrace as there was no table inside available - the waitress told us she would come back as soon as one would be free inside as it was very cold outside but she never came back a bill of 150€ on drinks and no little attention such as bringing a small bowl of crisps/ nuts or anything when order a dry martini with olive : no plates neither napkins (where do you put your stick and the seeds? on the table ? very hygienic in a period of covid 5 people were working on that evening and there were all chatting by the bar, but the attention to customer was very poor. I understand it is not fun to work on NYE but i mean in a place where you pay 15€ a cocktail in Porto , we expect a nice and friendly service.
A real shame considering the fact that the bar is very nice, the live music was great but I never experienced a poor service like this one in a place that intend to be...
Read moreWe read other reviews and were excited to visit Angle's Share. First, the setting and views were fantastic and we were lucky to sit outside. We asked our server to suggest two red Portuguese wines. We were served two reds but the person who delivered them said one was Portuguese and one was Spanish (ROC.) She poured from the bottles at the table. We waited for the server to stop back and asked about the Spanish wine. She assured us it was in fact from the Douro Valley of Portugal. She was very convinced and we took her word and began to drink the wines. The ROC wine was expensive (19 eoro) and wasn't very good. We looked up the wine and found it was actually Spanish. When we asked our server about it, her response was "my bad." There was no offer to replace it or take it off our bill. When I visit a high end wine bar, I expect knowledgeable servers. Unfortunately, I don't believe that's the case at...
Read moreWhen we been there for the 1st time with a friend of mine and I asked for a whisky that will pair with a cigar. The waiter politelly asked to smell the cigar, asked about price range and said he will come back with options. In the meantime I was going to toilet and saw all the bar people including the manager having several bottles open and discussing the best options for me. The one chosen complemented the cigar well.
Since then I started to organize my meetups in Angel's Share. The booking of the place was always great.
Fabio is a great manager, caring, easy going and always focused to deliver the top customer experience.
The view is great. The meals, cocktails and drinks are amazing. What is however the best is the service. Deeply caring about the customer, knowledgable about their wines, drinks and even pairing...
