Unfortunately, the food was not good and the service very poor. I had a chicken burger, the meat was of low quality, probably raw (in some parts) and for sure undercooked. The waiter explained to me that it was a special kind of chicken, which just had a rose color. Only after telling him, that I will not eat this and suggesting to put it on the grill again, he offered to do so. 5 -10 minutes later he served me the same plate with cold French fries, a burned breading, that you could obviously not eat as it was hard, but at least the chicken was a bit less rose, which proved that it was undercooked …but obviously not possible to eat any more as the breading was completely burnt, while the brad was still not toasted enough. Unfortunately, the waiters just did not care ..and were not service oriented at all.
Next surprise came when I wanted to pay for our food: obviously there was an issue with the electricity (no power outage): according ti the staff the whole system (which included also the order and payment process) had fallen out …ok this can happen (so I am not blaming them here) but again the service handled it all very unprofessional. The waiter asked me to please wait and he would bring a coffee on the house. There was no update at all, 5 -10 minutes later I asked the waiter again that we would like to leave and can’t wait here until there system works again. Surprisingly it was possible to pay, but we had to declare which food and drinks we had consumed. After telling the lady at the cash desk that the food was not good and of poor quality I just did not receive any comment and have been just ignored.
So based on this experience I would definitely not recommend the restaurant. The food of my boyfriend (classic beef burger) was OK (average), the juice...
Read moreWe stayed here for 5 days after wanting a really central location in Vila nova de Gaia. Which I have to say is the better side of Porto. |The location is literally 1-2 min walk from the waterfront down a cobbled street. It's quiet and enabled a good nights sleep. ||Arrival|Checking in was simple. Entry to the flat was unexpected in that you use a lift to get directly into the apartment. You have a key that access the floor your room is on. Lift door opens and directly into apartment. You can also gain access via stairs and a secure door also|Breakfast|From 0930hrs till 11am in the 7g coffee shop downstairs. Lovely coffee, croissants, rolls with cheese and ham, lovely yogurt with granola, fruit and honey. You can also have a basket in your room if you have to leave early. ||Bed/apartment|Really comfy we were in 3b which is a duplex with river views. |Great shower and lovely products. Serviced every two days. |Only draw back was not a lot of wardrobe space and no drawers. So we hung up what we could but had to leave some stuff in the suitcase. ||Location.|Fabulous if you want to be surrounded by port houses. 1 min walk to sandman port, surrounded by local restaurants, feels really safe and just a lovely location. |Popular with families as well as apartment also had a sofa bed in the living room. |For anyone not wanting to stay in a hotel. |Staff |Coffee shop staff were lovely in particular a lady who look after breakfast during the week. She was really welcoming worked (5,6,7 April), well informed about coffee, accommodating. She is a massive asset. Front desk staff dealt with any issues quickly. ||I would recommend this place to anyone wanting explore Porto but don't want it...
Read moreI wasn’t planning to stay long — just a quick coffee before heading out again — but the space caught me by surprise. There’s something really calming about it. The vertical layout is clever without feeling cramped, and the natural light filtering through made the whole place feel warm and open. Even the tables — simple, wooden, but beautifully chosen — add to the atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that pays attention to the details without shouting about it.
When my first coffee arrived, I noticed it was a bit colder than expected. Not a huge deal, honestly — these things happen. But what really impressed me was how the staff handled it. I mentioned it gently, and without hesitation, they offered to bring me a fresh cappuccino, which arrived hot, smooth, and delicious. That kind of response says a lot about the service here — they care, and they don’t make a fuss. Just fix it, kindly and quickly.
I ended up staying longer than planned. Watching the quiet movement of people coming and going, hearing the soft hum of conversations and cups — it’s a lovely rhythm. This isn’t just a place to grab coffee; it’s somewhere you want to be for a while.
Would definitely return. Not just for the coffee (which was great), but for how the whole experience made me feel — unhurried, looked after, and...
