Restaurante Cuíca Foz — Restaurant in Vila Real de Santo António

We ordered the salmon and bitoque, the salmon was deep fried, I am not sure how something can be dry and oily at the same time but this place achieved that , it was served with boiled vegetables (potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower) these were not seasoned at all but salt is available.

My mother for the first time in her life had to send her plate back, you get two pieces of steak, one was hard to cut through as it was so over cooked and one was so undercooked you could still heart it moo. The worst of the night were the fries, it looks like they fried the potato skins and just didn’t take them off the oil. Attached is a picture of the oil that came from a tiny potato skin. Maybe just my bad luck!!! Not recommended. Overall all the food we had including the appetisers was very bad and very expensive. Grilled octopus was awful. Completely over cooked, very mushy and had a very fishy smell and taste. Sent it all back. The waiter didn’t even ask why I did not eat my food. My husband had the steak. They asked how he wanted it cooked, he said medium and it came out really rare and tasteless. As a matter of fact both my husband and my dogs got diarrhea...

To avoid the usual options in Monte Gordo, we have decided to choose this place to try something new. We were very pleased with the friendliness and availability of the staff. Also, the atmosphere of the place goes a huge bit the standard offered in other restaurants. Which is to be commended. The options on the menu didn't differ much from other places (which is normal) but, the presentation of the dishes and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. To...
