Hotel was very close to the beach with bars and shops within easy distance. A lovely decorated foyer area with good helpful staff. Room was adequate but not large. A small balcony overlooked the road and a side view to the beach. beds were good and the only down side was there were no hot drink making faciklities. It had 2 lifts, one of which was out of action for our stay, this wasnt really an isue as the hotel didnt seem that busy, nut could be a bigger problem when it was. Room was attended to and beds made every day. I thought the restaurant was lovely well set out and not to busy, although it was just out of season. The restaurant staff were probably the most attentive I have yet to see in a hotel. always smiling and removing used plates and utensils quickly. Breakfast was a good a great choice of prepared fresh and tinned fruits, a small choice of hot food, yogurts, pastries, cooked meats etc. Fruit juice, tea and coffee machines. Evening meal always had a soup, choice of fish and meat, along with selection of vegetables. a huge array of salad items and probably the best display of chilled deserts ive seen in most hotels. The only down side to the food was.. I never had any food that was actually hot, it all seemed just luke warm to me. The roof area was quiet and the pool not large, but adequate for a little dip. A bar was open on the roof if you required a drink. All in all, a great 5 days away at an unbeleivable price for what we got. SHould I return to Monte Gordo, I wouldnt hessitate...
Read moreI'll start with the positives about this hotel: Service was absolutely fantastic. Everybody from the receptionists, waiters, the bar keepers, the housekeeping ladies, really everyone was polite, helpful, friendly and honestly happy to have us as their guests. Breakfast was excellent. The trays were always stocked, quite a few options of bread, fruit, warm dishes and pastries. Also many different types of milk including vegan options. The breakfast room was tidy and each table was immediately cleaned and set up ready for the next guest. Location: although not exactly at the beach, it is just a 200 m stroll and we could see the ocean from our balcony. Laundry, pharmacy, grocery stores, bakeries and restaurants are in walking distance. Rooms: The rooms are a bit dated, however, the beds were fantastic. Can't remember the last hotel I slept this good waking up without back pain. Extra points for cleanliness and more extra points for the housekeeping ladies, who were more than willing to adjust their schedule for room service to meet my husbands workation needs. Pool: Is ok, but this area could benefit from a little TLC. Wi-Fi Service: This is probably an issue in most hotels: it's not able to cope with many guests connecting at the same time. I'm sure guests working while in Monte Gordo would pay extra for fast speed internet. All in all a very good 3 Star hotel with some room for improvement. We will definitely come back for our next running...
Read moreSo this hotel is clean, basic, and outdated. If you are like me and just care about the cleanliness of the room you’re staying in. This will be perfect. It’s very affordable and came with breakfast. Now I did initially think breakfast was abysmal but when I explained I had a gluten intolerance they really have accommodated me. By giving me gluten free bread. I will also eat the fresh fruit that’s provided. Not much hot food though is available bacon eggs, beans and sausages if you eat that kind of thing. A lot of breads and cheeses are also available. Bottled water from the bar is €2. When I asked for a kettle I got laughed at. And said they don’t have one. Maybe it’s an English thing lol but I accepted it and moved on. Would be nice if it had a gym but I guess you get what you pay for. Very close walk 2 minute walk even to the beach and some good close by eateries too. Also a pharmacy is across the road and a dessert place. So overall I’d...
