Worst experience we have ever had in Monte Gordo or anywhere! Third time here and as this place is always busy we thought we had to try but never again! Food was ok but never have we had such an uncomfortable and awkward dining experience, felt rushed, plates snatched before you had even finished and this is not in the height of season! Don’t even want to imagine what the dining experience would feel like in summer when it is busy! We thought this place was the same owners as Oasis across the road where we have had the best dining experience and beautiful food with genuinely lovely staff but our experience tonight was appalling! We were extremely shocked at how bad it was, will certainly never return or recommend, especially when there are so many lovely places with lovely waiters all around! Maybe it’s nice for the locals but def not for the tourists! If I could have left no stars I would have! Rude staff with little manners sending creepy vibes all round! Also charge for bread butter and pate whether you want it or not, be sure to check your bill! This was our first evening in Monte Gordo and we were not able to make a reservation so we opted to ask for a table and wait our turn. The menu looked promising and the food was decent, however the service was deplorable. We did not have a dedicated waiter and each time we wanted to request drinks or order something extra we were either ignored or got another waiter, my daughters ordered soft drinks that came without a glass and the chocolate mousse was prefabricated and came in a plastic closed container. I speak fluent Portuguese and I clearly made known that their attitude and service was not up to standard and that I felt insulted that I was being treated like a tourist with little attention. I understand that the waiters were nearing the end of their service but that does not excuse the way we were treated. There was a definite difference in attitude of the waiters towards the Portuguese family sitting behind us and ourselves, in spite of me being able to speak the language we felt like second rate citizens. Our last night here in Portugal - We ordered prawns and sardines to start and 2 x pork tenderloins wilh fries and extra salad with 2 peppercorn sauces for mains ..: only one tenderloin came with no fries or extra salad or sauce ……what we received was tasty but we are so disappointed and to top it all the owner’s son was too busy serving other clients to come over and put it right or apologise …very disappointed - we’ve been coming to this restaurant for years - this is definitely our last visit!!
