Ok, so, let's start with the service, that all important invisible tool that makes one wonder why one has to rate it at all. Surely all restaurants offer great service....If only that were true... Well, you'll find amazing service here at VEGOOD. My wife and I visited one lunch time, the restaurant is on one of the corners of the main square. It's only small but we visited early lunch time and in December, so we were able to easily get a table. The place became more and more busy as time went on. The waitress was incredibly knowledgeable about everything on the menu and the additional Specials Offerings. Her explanations were perfect, and her guidance as to what would be suitable for two people to share was amazing, even though we don't speak Portuguese. So, 5 *s from us on service.
Next, the place and atmosphere. Small, but obviously spills out front and back in the summer almost doubling the size of the place I'd guess. There are some very intriguing arty touches dotted throughout the place, providing a complete feeling of originality. Check out the sink close to the impeccably clean services, the tankards on the wall and more. So 5*s for the place.
Quality and cost of food. If you're looking for a place that serves basic hamburger type foods, then I'd wager this place is not for you. If, however, you're looking for food made with imagination, obviously masses of trial and error, made with totally fresh vegetables (do you know they grow their own in their own garden), mixed with taste bud exploding excitement and (get this) all at really affordable prices, then this really is the place to be. So 5*s for quality of food.
So, were there any points open for criticism?
If I were to be really picky I'd say that a more comfy, cushioned seat would have been a benefit, but then I am 70 and I like my creature comforts. I'm certain such a change would encounter increases in the prices and that would be a shame as the pricing, I thought, matched exactly what the food and the obvious efforts made by the kitchen staff to make and prepare the food, deserved.
Overall 5*s
Will we visit again?...Most definitely.
Try it...
Read moreI had an absolutely delightful dining experience at Vegood Vegan Restaurant in Vila Real! The Chef's Cannelloni starter was a burst of flavor, perfectly crafted and fresh, setting the tone for an incredible meal. The Veg Chilli main course was equally impressive, packed with vibrant, wholesome ingredients that left me wanting more. To top it all off, the natural RED juice—a refreshing blend of beetroot, strawberries, and orange—was the perfect complement to the meal, bursting with freshness. The service provided by Gaya and Boris was exceptional—professional, warm, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Their passion for their work truly shines through. The seating arrangements were beautiful, creating a cozy yet elegant atmosphere that made the meal feel special. Vegood is a gem for vegan dining, and I can’t recommend it enough! The food, service, and ambiance are all top-notch. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreFirstly, I have eaten here 4 times before and it was good. Today was a busy day and the kitchen was struggling with orders. The quality suffered slightly compared to previous visits. We live in Portugal and are not disgruntled tourists but are a regular customer. There were plenty of servers compared to other restaurants we visit, but the service was very poor and the response to the delays and many disgruntled customers was poor. 15 minutes to get a menu, a further 20 to get our drinks. 90 minutes to get food. We waited 10 minutes for the bill even though the restaurant was empty after the lunch rush, the staff were stood around talking. I had to go to the bar and force them to take my money
This was our go to place in VRS and I previously gave 5 star review. Now it's a one star and I can't see me returning again and will have to find a new favorite...
