Xin Yuan Chinees Restaurant — Restaurant in Vila Real de Santo António

We have been coming here for years. This time I noticed that the menu had changed and I didn't recognise the staff. We ordered the set menu on this occasion. The first course arrived which we tucked into. Three quarters of the way through that, the main course appeared. What had happened to the second course of duck? I referred them back to their menu and asked them to take back the main dishes and provide the second course, and after that they could return with the main. The duck and pancakes arrived and we ate that. We waited. I then asked the waitress to clear the table, which she obviously misunderstood, and returned with the bill. We had had enough of this by then, so paid an appropriate amount and left. Very disappointed as this was our go to Chinese restaurant in the area....

So I had the €10 tourist menu. Comes with starter (I chose the prawn crackers) main, dessert, and a drink (if you drink alcohol you can choose a beer or a wine). I think for the price it’s really good. It was tasty and fresh. Only thing I’d say is that they put too much ginger in my chicken and black bean sauce but that’s down to preference. We ate here on the 23rd May 2021. We went for lunch and ordered the buffet. 13.50 as much as you can eat. All the dishes were fine, but pretty standard for any Chinese restuarant. This place is fine but again the spicy dishes were not spicy and I had to add chilli sauce to pep them up a bit.
