cozy like home, but service could be tighter
There’s something undeniably warm and homey about The House. From the moment you step inside, it doesn’t feel like your typical restaurant—more like a beautifully kept living room, the kind you’d find in a Swiss chalet or even your grandma’s house, just waiting for good company and slow mornings.
Had the healthy plate with a poached egg, mozzarella sticks, and honestly? Flavors were sophisticated, and balanced just right. Not just a simple breakfast, but something thoughtfully put together, doubling down on richness and depth. And the coffee? A masterpiece. The honey and cinnamon added a warm, spiced sweetness that made it feel like it was made for slow, easy mornings.
The view? Nice, but better in pictures. Something about the placement of the glass kind of takes away from it, making it feel more hidden than it should be.
Where it could improve? The service. Not that they weren’t kind, but it felt a little detached, like they weren’t fully present in what they were doing. Also had trouble speaking with the waiter which was mainly about mere orientation to find the restaurant. Missing the mark on simple things like this is detracting. By the time I was paying and wrapping up, there was this subtle energy of “okay, you’re done now, go on with your day.” It wasn’t outright rude, but it definitely lacked that extra touch of hospitality that would’ve made the whole experience feel more seamless.
Still, if you’re looking for a place that feels like a cozy retreat—a spot where you can read, write or just sit back and enjoy a well-thought-out meal—this place is a winner. Just a little more polish in service, and it would be...
Read moreI went to this place one Friday of February to have coffee and sweets. I was passing by the restaurant to have a table outside and suddenly I got surprised to see one employee who hysterically thrown her phone in the wooden trolley and started shouting with her colleagues.
We seated outside and found table next to the view which was really mesmerizing. We were served with one waiter there. We ordered Flatwhite, Spanish Latte, Chocolate Cake, and Water.
When the orders arrived, I got startled as those coffee are served in the same cups’ size! I asked the old waiter why is that? He just simply said “this is the only cups we have”.
I’m in the same industry as well and Spanish Latte should be serve in bigger Mug or Cup which is in 10Oz and Flat white is smaller cup which is around 6Oz. Here, they are serving in same size which is unacceptable for someone who knows coffee very well! Playing Quantity of coffees is unreasonable to think we paid enough. Even their chocolate cake is not good at all where the sauce is a bit bitter and very heavy for the price of 58qar.
The waiter did not even care to ask how was our orders so I can share my comment instead he’s disappearing many time and when I asked him the bill he forgot and found him standing with one of other waiter next to the door and keeps talking in local language. He just remembered my bill when he saw us that we are walking towards them.
My impression made me realize that this place has good ambience but the service and workers are mostly unprofessional. Don’t think we will care to visit this...
Read moreVisiting The House Restaurant in Doha offered a picturesque view of the Cresent Towers and the Lusail sea, creating an ideal setting for a leisurely lunch. The ambiance was breathtaking, with an elegant setting that elevated the dining experience.
However, our visit encountered a few hiccups. Initially, the service was delayed, and despite ordering the Angus rib eye steak and a Fattoush salad, the prolonged wait left us concerned. Regrettably, upon arrival, the Fattoush was underwhelming in taste and portion for its price, and to our surprise, the ordered steak was mistakenly replaced with a hamburger.
The turning point was when Juman stepped in. His professionalism, empathy, and swift actions transformed our experience. He rectified the order promptly, ensuring the arrival of the delectable and juicy Angus steak within a record time of 10 minutes. Additionally, the complimentary in-house dessert offered was a delightful surprise, adding a sweet note to our meal.
Juman's exceptional service and efforts salvaged what had been a disappointing start, elevating the overall experience from dismal to exceptional. While the restaurant boasts a unique ambiance, it's worth noting that the pricing might be on the higher side. Nevertheless, Juman's attentive service and the quality of the dishes salvaged our visit, making The House Restaurant a recommendation worth considering despite its...
