Jimmy's Killer Prawns opened up in Qatar in the beginning of this year with a huge menu focussing on seafood dishes. The restaurant is originally from South Africa, but the menu was pretty interesting with a few different flavors from around the world. Be ready to put on a bib and wear gloves to dig in there and enjoy your food.
We had to try their Famous Killer Prawns, served either Grilled or Crumbed, we chose the grilled option and they were really incredible! You can choose a platter for 1 person, 2 persons or 3-4 persons. The quantity was really good for the price, especially each prawn being pretty big. The flavor was really nice, but a bit too buttery/oily, the prawns were really juicy and cooked right. Next we also tried the Jimmy's Spicy Saucy Prawns, it had a nice spicy and tangy sauce. Since this was cooked in a sauce, I felt the prawns were a lot more juicier than the grilled ones. Lastly we got Jimmy's Mozambican Prawns, which had queen prawns (butterfly cut) served with a creamy coconut sauce ontop of rice. This was a bit sweet and creamy, so was a bit different to the spicy and tangy other dishes.
Each platter comes with a side dish and you can choose from one of the following: Onion Rings, Fries, Jimmy's Rice and Sayadaya Rice. The sayadaya rice was a bit weird, tasted very smoky and lacked the sayadaya rice I'm used to. Also it comes with side sauces of butter, lemon butter and chilli sauce.
They also have buckets with different seafood items and many sauces to choose from, I hope to visit it again next time to try them and their...
Read moreAmazing food and service. Thanks to Chef Majd and our server Omar for their attention to detail. Their ifthar dinner was affordable, without compromising on quality. The menu includes an array of cold starters, prawns, calamari, mussels and crab on ice, selection of dips, salads and condiments. 2 types of soups, a pasta station and a whole grilled fish. Mains included grilled chicken with mushroom, lamb salona, lasagne with all the accompanying vegetables, sauces and rice, however the star of the show was the succulent spicy Jimmy Killer prawns in the traditional sauce. Being South African and having a taste of home rendered me speechless. Chef Majd was quite happy to send additional sauce to the table. Desserts was a decadent selection of western and Arabic sweets. The food was constantly being replenished and even though the restaurant was fully booked, there was never a wait in line at the buffet. Operations ran smoothly. Definitely will be back for their regular menu. 155qr per person with an offer of buy...
Read moreIn Jimmy's Killer Prawns, I had Tom Yom mixed seafood soup as a start. For the main course I had prawns with rice dish, which they call original killer queen's and fillet of fish with onion rings. The fish which I chose was hamour fish. All seafood and fish ingredients in the soup and dishes were fresh and delicious. With these two main dishes, they give lemon butter sauce, garlic butter sauce, and peri peri sauce. For drinks I enjoyed Passionfruit Mohito.
The host told me they just opened recently in Qatar but Jimmy's Killer Prawns is currently opened in 9 countries all over the world and providing the famous taste of the prawns through 39 branches in South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Cyprus, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia.
