I'll admit, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from a smaller venue in the city, but I was genuinely impressed. Firstly, the internal organisation was surprisingly efficient. From entry to the bar to the cloakroom, everything flowed smoothly. It's clear they've put thought into the layout and logistics, which made a huge difference to the overall atmosphere. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly for a gig like Frank Turner's, the stage setup allowed for excellent proximity. You could easily position yourself close to the stage, creating that intimate, energetic connection between the artist and the audience. This is a crucial factor for a performer who thrives on audience interaction, and Expirat facilitated it perfectly. It's a fantastic space for smaller, more personal gigs, where getting up close and personal with the artist is a priority. The sound quality was also commendable, clear and balanced, ensuring that Frank's lyrics and energy came through powerfully. Expirat is no doubt my favorite night club in Bucharest. You can see from the first time you step foot inside the yard, that someone with a lot of passion is running this place. Security greets you at the entrance with a smile. There's heaters all over the yard for cold winter days, in case there's a queue, so people stay warm while waiting. Bartenders are very friendly, experienced and always eager to have a shot with you. The building is the most secure night club building in Bucharest, in case of an emergency. They even have a defibrillator and people trained to use it, if the need arise. You don't see this anywhere else in Romania. Clearly they care about their guests.

The music is ok, it's a bit fresh for my taste. I grew up going to Expirat, ever since 2005, and they had different music back than. It's still fine, it gets you dancing, but I prefered the old music and so do my friends. I think it's a mistake from their part, since most of their customers are not in the high-school/college group age like back when they started. And they're the ones that actually enjoy these fresh vibes, but don't come to Expirat since it's out of their price range. Nevertheless, I'll keep going, there's no place...

The food was good, but had a weird experience with the staff from the kitchen with whom I initiated the conversation in Romanian, he replied in English, and when I went to pick up the food only I caught him talking in Romanian and then switched to English again when he saw me.
