Nicely decorated interior, good atmosphere and friendly waitresses. The food didnât meet our expectations though: instead of the sea mix with salmon and tuna made in oven, we got a deep fried one because of the waiter confusion. While we can survive the greasy experience for one evening, we were relying on the salmon as our son is more picky. So he barely touched the food. The deserts were an even bigger let-down as the Pavlovaâs whipping cream came from a tube, what a shame for such a restaurant... The focaccia was also too dry to eat - probably only reheated.
Later update (reply to owner's response): I ordered an extravaganza sea food plate there is no mistake in that from my part, but there's nothing I can do to prove it either. I am 100% sure of it as I made a joke at the time by saying: "I noticed you have an extravagant sea plate" (the menu name was Sea Plate Extravaganza)
I remember about the 2 vs 4 people discussion as well: we did say the child is not eating indeed, but that was when we ordered and it's because at 6 years he eats less than half a portion - so we usually share our plates with him. Not sure about it's relevance in this discussion though.... Likewise at ordering time, the 3rd adult at the table specified she's not eating (diet, over 9 PM already, etc). So if the waiter would have been paying attention at order time, he wouldn't have to ask again later at the hanger about the number of portions... He could also spotted a discrepancy in our order at any time as we ordered the Garibaldi potatoes for the Extravaganza plate which didn't include a side dish - compared to the simple plate which already includes french fries... And no, we didn't mention the salmon & tuna when we ordered, why would we? Usually people don't specify the ingredients of what they order, they just say the name of the dish from the menu and assume it's clear enough for the waiter... One takeway for us is to always ask the waiter to repeat the order when we go in new places.
Related to our dissatisfaction with the food: we mentioned the mistake as soon as the plate arrived but we were not offered any choice from the waiter. What could have we done in that case? Leave without paying (it was already 21:50), or pay for it but don't touch it? We ate it because we were hungry. It wasn't un-eatable, but we are not into deep fried food at all. We do like sea food but we get sicken from the oil of deep frying as most people do after a certain age.
About the Pavlova: it was the desert of our son, he did eat the waffels and the jam indeed, but not the cream. We all tasted the whipped cream after to check it's taste and confirm why our child didn't like it. We might be mistaking, but all the 3 adults felt like it was coming from a tube. We left in the cup the rest, we didn't eat it all as mentioned... We had other deserts as well, they were a 3* I would say, it's only the Pavlova that was really a disaster.
It is nice from your side to offer the deserts from the house on our next visit. We were tourists so we are over 500 km away now. But the situation could have been resolved very elegantly at that time. Even in the 12th hour, when we raised from the table to leave and the waiter picked up the notebook noticing there was no tip at all. Someone could have said or asked something, while we waited standing for the child to return from bathroom. Seems like the person over-hearing what we discussed with the waiter in the beginning didn't hear or see anything anymore for the rest of the evening. I guess he didn't over-hear either when we asked for details about a specific dish and our waiter had to call his girl colleague to answer. He was probably new and didn't know the menu yet, these things happen.
There are way better restaurants with lower ratings, better prices and better food - this restaurant got its high rating for its decor...
Read moreMy recent visit, 2 couples, to Trattoria Garibaldi was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The ambiance of the restaurant is charming and inviting, under the lemon sky, setting the perfect mood for a dining experience.
The food, oh my, the food! Each dish was a masterpiece of flavor. From the mouthwatering pizzas to the perfectly al dente pasta dishes, every bite was a celebration of Italian cuisine. The ingredients were fresh, and you could taste the authenticity in every dish. We ate pizza Regina, tuna tartare and Tagliatelle al tartufo e gamberi. We were recommended a new dish, which was not yet on the menu, mussels Cafe de Paris ...... I have never eaten something like this in a creamy sauce and shrimps with avocado spicy cream . Extraordinary
The service was impeccable. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and had excellent recommendations. They truly added to the overall enjoyment of our meal.
As for the prices, I found them to be reasonable+ for the quality of food and service provided. It's not every day that you come across such a gem where you feel like you're getting more than your money's worth.
I can't recommend Trattoria Garibaldi enough. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or simply a fantastic meal, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. I'll be returning without a doubt!
Bravo, Trattoria Garibaldi! Keep up the...
Read moreThe place has a nice ambiance, yes. However, a restaurant should be mainly about the food experience and the service. This was very underwhelming, and really desproportional to the prices charged. I ordered spaghetti carbonara. First bad surprise: it is remarkably little, definitely not enough for a meal served to an adult, very unfulfilling. But the pasta was hard, not well boiled/cooked. I told them and got my dish replaced. The second serving was not much different actually, perhaps slightly improved but still way below expected quality and I know pasta, that is not "al dente" either. But the dish itself is also not good. There is an excessive amount of cream and pepper (some guy in these reviews saying the carbonara was exquisite has probably never eaten a real one in his life; this is divorced from reality). All and all a really underwhelming experience. And if I ran a restaurant and served something like that I would make sure to talk to the unsatisfied customer, to get constructive feedback and maybe even offer some form of compensation. This restaurant pretends to be a high quality one and that is what high quality restaurants do. But none of this happened. In the end an overpriced bill (and no discount). I have never left a review on any platform; I am a good customer who respects people working in the food industry and root for their success. This restaurant better reframe their service urgently. Until then, I don't...
