I visited Dristor Doner Kebap (Blvd. Dimitrie Cantemir) on 22.12.2024 around 23:00 with my family and small children. We ordered food and ice cream and were peacefully finishing our meal when an employee came to clear the table. Shortly after, a "bodyguard" approached us in a highly disrespectful and unprofessional manner, demanding we leave because we had finished eating. His loud and intimidating tone created an unpleasant and tense atmosphere.

To note, there were several empty tables in the restaurant, including near ours. When we requested to speak to the supervisor, this "bodyguard" claimed he was acting as the supervisor. Later, the actual supervisor, who had earlier cleared our table, returned but remained silent during the confrontation. This lack of professionalism made the situation even more frustrating.

I also requested information to file an official complaint, but the supervisor provided no useful details. Another individual, claiming to be a supervisor as well, eventually apologized, but by then the damage was done.

As loyal customers of this place for over 10 years, we were deeply disappointed by this incident. The rude and unprofessional behavior, especially in front of our young children, was unacceptable. Had they spoken to us politely, we would have understood. Unfortunately, this experience has left us very disappointed, and we will not be returning to this...

I have very mixed feelings about this place. Let's start with the positive: the food is excellent. In terms of taste and presentation, my meal was great, and I have no complaints on that front.

However, the service and atmosphere are a different story. The service was okay, but I witnessed a very unprofessional and aggressive argument in Turkish between the woman at the counter and one of the elder Turkish grill chefs. It was so intense that a manager had to step in and stop them, right in front of all the customers. On a personal note I believe it was disrespectful on how the woman was talking to an elder person, and in a Muslim environment, that can be a tad too much.

The biggest issue is the late-night atmosphere. The place attracts a very rough, loud, and rowdy crowd from the Bucharest nightlife scene, being the 'crème de la crème' of the Bucharest underworld. The place gets invaded by 'cocalari' and the atmosphere is just not for everyone. We were two couples with kids trying some Turkish food, and we were threatened by one of the “cocalars”, because we told them to educate their kid to put his hand over his mouth when sneezing over other people’s table.

The vibe can be chaotic and uncomfortable, making it difficult to have a relaxing meal. While the food is good, be prepared for a very intense and not always pleasant environment.

My advice: if you must try the food, get it for takeaway and eat it...
